That's the point, he doesn't know. I have a v6 double cab with front bumper, so my needs are different than say yours with regards to weight. Merely pointing that out. Some guys like a softer more splashy ride, others more firm. It all depends on what you're looking to get out of them. To me buying used stuff without knowing anything about them is akin to throwing a spacer lift on for looks.

I've owned a first gen Tacoma in one form or another since 2000, so maybe I look at things a bit differently in my older years. I wouldn't put anything in that category used on my truck. When I was broke and 22, sure. I'm still replacing stuff on my truck I bought simply because it was cheaper at the time. Wish I just did it the way I intended it to be the first time. Mark it up in the category of live and learn.

Probably gonna make it happen, I don't have a big heavy bumper and probably won't have one for awhile. Honestly compared to the ride I have now with my 39.99 autozone struts and original springs at 216XXX miles it probably can't be much worse. If a rebuild is needed I guess I'll just hope a local shop can do it.

Id try to find someone on here who can do it, it gets rather expensive to have a shop do it, I learned a lot of shops wouldn't mess with them because of their high spring rate. I got mine rebuilt and replaced the springs when I first ordered a used set.

    :der:

I have those exact kings on my DD. Totally stock otherwise. has 600lb coils and rides like a fucking cadilac.

If it rode like bricks. its your own damn fault for preloading them way too much.

$400 for those coil overs is a great deal. even if you have to rebuild them and get new shafts and new Heims they will last another 50k easily and ride way better in every scenorio then any bolt in option....then..if they go bad. Just rebuild them again. cheaper in the long run.

    for real...

Different strokes for different folks, I read up on all this stuff in my free time, I know what I'm looking for. He may not, but in a short time he will. I trust my abilities and would have no hesitation rebuilding/revalving these. He'll know soon enough what he likes and worst case scenario he can have DSM rebuild them. That said I don't purchase things for the hell of it either, so I'd know what I'm getting myself into. But this is the kind of thing you really can't lose with buying used, hence why I say go for it. Now you could definitely strike out buying used OME stuff or used LCAs or UCAs (except the uniball ones, those are rebuildable). Just gotta weigh your abilities against your cash, I'm willing to put in the work to make a bargain work well for me and I have no issue trusting my craftsmanship.

With shipping two ways that might become cost prohibitive. Definitely look for a local member first, shipping on that is going to run at least $40 or more each way I would think.

Missed deals kill me. I missed out on front and rear ARB locked 5.29 diffs for $1300 semi local to me. Came up last year just after I bought my house.

Took a look down and saw both cvs are torn and spewing grease. Ordered some remanufactured ones for $364.58 from South Bay Toyota, not a bad deal IMO. I know what I'm doing this weekend!

    Dude..

    okay..

Rebuildable coil overs are also VALVABLE.

That has more to do with how it rides then the spring rate. The springs just hold the truck up. ITs the internal valving that makes it ride better.

If you don't like how it rides. Easy. Pull it apart, change the shim stacks, put it back together and bam. Totally different riding shock.

I guess I should just stand back and watch as people make bad decisions based on bad advice. I hear Bilstein 5100s are a huge upgrade over stock that are nearly as good as King's for a tenth the price!

Deals gonna go down Thursday for 350$. Both of us are driving 2 1/2 hours. I know a local shop that'll hopefully work with me as he is my dads friend. I'll post up here when it's said and down I guess.

Well it wasn't the winch solenoid that failed, I can hear it clicking with the motor off.
With the winch both in gear and in neutral the motor won't turn, Any guesses on where to go from here?
    Winch is a smittybilt XRC9500.

I tried this ridiculous Purolator BOSS filter, I may send him one for shits and gigs. The packaging is so flashy, that it better be damn good. It was the same cost as a M1 filter.
