I had a 96 Chevy with a 10.5 camper, the trailer hitch extension was nearly 3 feet long. I would tow my single seat buggy and quads no problem. I would not tow the race truck this way. I would make sure you camper is short enough you can use the hitch on the truck without extensions. Tongue weight just depends on how far forward you put the truck on the trailer.

Don't even end give it a 2nd thought. It'll tow no problem. Tongue weight shouldn't be more than 3-400 lbs. Worst case scenario, helper bags on the diesel. Doubt you'll need it though. Might squat a bit but will be fine.

We shall see about overhang. Yet to decide what size camper. Hitch extensions add leverage so it does multiply the tongue weight. Try to keep it with minimal overhang.

Airbags will be add ASAP as well.

Hell know. The plan is to be able to just throw the camper on truck and disappear for day/weekend trips with family. And also take family out occasional with the prerunner in tow.

The more I think about the more I think I need to just bite the bullet and go big with the dually instead of the SRW.

Yep. Do them all. And don't forget to anti-seize them and the hardware too for your own sake in the future.

My dad is wanting to sell his dually right now since he only drives it once a month to have it washed and detailed lol said I could make payments on it which would be sick and I could afford but already having a daily driver and a toy I don't think I could justify it right now. If it wasn't a dually I'd consider selling my daily and daily the diesel but that truck is a pain to drive other than on the highway in my opinon

Fuck the airbags. Get a quality WD hitch and never look back. I use an equalizer hitch and hit has sway control left/right and fore/aft

Not really about when I need to tow as I it's gonna be a weekend camper deal with ability to take fam n camper

Yeah my brother was big in the slidein camper world for a bit and was telling the right hitch is a must. Fucker just got a fifth wheel and his class A now he tandom pulls his trailer n boat! Is the brand WD? Or what...

The plan is to have the slide in camper out as often a possible. I could get smaller truck and go with a trailer camper but wifey said if I want to go to te dez or pismo for the weekend then the family has to come. The pain in the ass of having wifey drive the Yota while I tow the camper isn't worth it and takes some of the family fun road tripping out of it. If I break the Yota then it's getting on a tow truck instead back on a trailer behind my truck. If I go the slide in camper route weekend trips with the Yota will be easy as I have rv storage at my house. Plus then I can justify the flatbed trailer for the yota lol.

For me really comes down to the safety with having a 5000lb truck on whatever a trailer weighs 1-2k with a 3k camper in the bed us gear. Having my wife n 2 kids and everyone else on the road short cutting it or the attitude if I can pull it ur good is not me. Dually would be best for that application but may not be necessary if I can safely stay within weight regs n such a single rear wheel is my preference.

That's why I'm doing all my research before I purchase a truck. If the tongue weight is under 1k then with the srw, quality hitch, airbags, and high load range tires I'm good with the SRW.

All because my queen needs a shower n shitter. Keep telling her about the RTT and all the rad accessories for shitting n showering... But gotta keep her happy or no one is happy.

Should took up video games as a hobby instead of this shit. Lol. Or not got married and had kids hehe

WD = Weight Distributing. Equal-i-zer is the brand I use.

What about buying a cheaper motorhome and trailer the truck behind that? I'm getting to the point of wanting to tow the truck instead of drive it, but I also would like more refined camping as well. Do they even make camper trailers with garages big enough for a LT truck?
