Going off of this: does statute of limitations or whatever it's called for a debt start at the time the last charge was made on the card, or when?

It starts I think from the first missed payment which shows up as a 30 day delinquent on a credit report then 60,90,120, then two letters meaning something, then will normally get charged off and sold to a junk debt collector.

Just hit 5 1/2 years on a very old credit card from when I used to charge a shit ton. Hoping it eventually falls off.

Just looked it up, SOL for cc debt in AZ is 6 years. Can't get a judgement past that.

Here's hoping the next 6 months passes by quietly!

    Good Luck.

I paid off my past, only one I left was Sears. Those guys were asses! They went after my parent's credit in the beginning. My dad had to threaten them with a lawyer. They weren't co-signed or anything like that. Someone just realized my dad and I shared a name and started going after them thinking they might pay up to make it stop. Then they called me 5 times a day for six months, even in the middle of the night. I filed several complaints against them. It finally stopped, but then they must have heard I was paying people because they came back after me. I tried to work with them, but they didn't want to play ball. My original debt was $1,700, but they want over $3k then. Said they would settle for $2,500. I laughed, offered them the original debt owed and they said no. So screw them. They aren't on my credit report, so screw them. I still get a letter about ever six months trying to get me to pay them something between $2-3k.

You also have to make sure a collector doesn't try to transfer the debt to someone else and claim that's the start of debt, you can easily make a dispute that they aged your account, and when the collectors can't prove anything they will take it off, but should wait past the 6 years like you said before russeling any feathers.
