I want to get a Rem 700 and throw the Magpul stock on it and the suppress it, just would rather put that money into a lift kit that I would use every day instead of just a couple days a year hunting...

Don't worry, I won't do anything stupid. However I love everything gun related and since I cannot experience them myself I though about asking you guys. However the more I listen the more I want one. I think I will start lobying for them up here. I'm sure they will come around in a few days:rolleyes:.
    Not a chance!

Most 22 suppressors are user serviceable, including the above GM22 above.

People have been lobbying for years. It doesn't help though that it's the same group that wants the full battle and assault rifles with unlimited size clips up here that also wants the silencers...

Uhmm... no. There is absolutely zero provisions regarding the current fee associated with a tax stamp. Establishing or increasing an established tax via EO? Good luck with all of that. lulz

The only changes that 41F (formerly 41P) make are that those with a Trust will no have to file fingerprint cards and photos for everyone on the Trust able to possess NFA items. Since this was a loophole some used to avoid such a thing and individuals still had to submit these it actually makes sense. Sort of. The other change is that CLEO sign-off will no longer be required for either a Trust or Individual. This is actually a good thing because it's one less step required for getting your NFA item and it's a large reason many were forced to go the Trust route to obtain NFA items in the first place. They do a very extensive background at the Federal level to approve anyway so the CLEO sign-off requirement was a de facto ban for many who lived in counties where their CLEO would refuse to sign off on ANY NFA item for ANYONE which is an abuse of powers. It was basically only to be used if just cause was given to NOT sign up but became a way for anti-2A CLEO's to blanket reject with vague reasoning and leave the onus on the individual to pursue legal recourse. Good luck with all of that. Another thing it's going to do is still unclear but for those who's information hasn't changed you'll be able to submit a fast track form w/o fingerprint cards and photos and get quicker approval. It will be interesting to see how that all unfolds as it could really help to expedite what can otherwise be a lengthy process for most. I've had forms take 18 months to come back and I've had them take 2 months to come back. Same basic form and same basic object each time.

Honestly, I'm no fan to Obama but the passing of 41P/41F isn't necessarily the end of the world that so many online would have you believe. It serves to tiddy up a loose end that was being widely abused as a loophole & helps to expedite the process in other areas. Until I see for myself that there is verbiage that makes things worse for us I'm not going to cry wolf the way so many people feel fit to do.

I don't get it... too much is unknown so rather than go off of the actual words published to 41F we're going to assume the worst and then spread it around the internet as fact. Let's pump the brakes a little bit on the big bad man taking all of our fun with the single swipe of a pen. k?

I'm guessing you're talking about the Octane? The Osprey isn't end-user serviceable. Either way, that's a LOT of suppressor for 22LR. I would advice getting a smaller/lighter & cheaper dedicated 22LR suppressor and then a separate suppressor for other pistol calibers. The idea of getting a single suppressor and then running a 22LR through it seems ideal but you'll quickly find that you want something dedicated to 22LR use for multiple reasons. As to one lasting longer than another because it's user-serviceable... not likely. Even for high-volume shooters massive amounts of carbon buildup don't degrade metered decibel reduction over brand new suppressors. Lead build up is a little bit different but if you get a good dedicated 22LR suppressor the lead build-up won't be much of an issue either especially if you shoot cleaner or jacketed 22LR.

It's magazines & not clips. That term is actually incorrect so I'll point it out since you seem to want to genuinely learn this stuff.

I wouldn't say most. They're a cheaper suppressor so many cut corners in manufacturing to bring a less expensive product to market. While this seems like a deal breaker most who have been around suppressors for any length of time will argue that it's not really that big of a deal. The key is to buy a quality suppressor from a quality manufacturer with an impeccable warranty and customer service and you won't have anything to worry about. The good ones will rebuild your suppressor free of charge if you use it enough to fill it with carbon or lead. If you know how caustic cleaning them can be (especially when you're talking chemically breaking down lead... yikes!) then you would rather let the manufacturer rebuild it for free once every decade or so for peace of mind. That's my $0.05 adjusted for inflation of course.

A tax can't be enacted or increase by EO and MUST be done through Congress. Simply put, whoever has heard whatever is incorrect. 41F has been published in the Federal Register and it contains nothing about the tax or any increase thereof. This stuff is already confusing enough to keep straight w/o people just making crap up that doesn't exist.

    Touche.

My point is that up here the gun lobby unfortunately comes off as being run by a bunch of irresponsible rednecks instead of concerned hunters. If we could turn that tide and limit the amount of things we are asking for we might actually make some progress.

How many rounds can you get out of one of these mid range suppressors on average?

Honestly depends how you use it! Most will last 1000's of rounds if not 10,000's of rounds. I know with mine i have put well over 10k through it no problems.
Silencerco SS sparrow, on kimber conversion and many others. Heck i broke the firing pin off my conversion at about 8k found out they should be replaced at 5k :rolleyes:image.jpg

It's no different here either. Those who are pro-gun are seen as total nut jobs that don't possess the common sense that god have a doorknob. It's our job as individuals to try to convince people otherwise one person at a time. Not an easy task but it's what we're left with because the more pro-gun people we have the harder it is to categorize us all as fringe whack jobs who are unrealistic in their expectations of Liberty.

Not sure I understand the question. I've talked with people with several companies who receive suppressors that have tens of thousands of rounds of various use that are tested with a meter and the decibel reduction is within a couple db of the manufacturer's stated #'s. The thought of carbon build-up affecting performance sooner than later is grossly exaggerated based on the industry professionals I've spoken to and gone shooting with over the years. My personal experience parallels all of these claims so aside from a few internet myths I have no reason to doubt anything they claim.
