I have done a bit of searching for tool boxes on this site. I have found some I like - the UWS low profile for one, but I can't decide if I should go black or white.

It seems the black looks good on a white truck and the silver looks better on darker trucks. I can't find many black boxes on black trucks.

    Any suggestions?

What color is your truck now? Here's a black UWS low profile on my black sand pearl tacoma. I like the way it looks.

That's exactly the kind of picture I am looking for. I do like the black. Thanks!

I am seeing them on Amazon for about $300. Does that sound about right?

Yes, I believe that's the cost of a new one. Make sure you get free shipping though as it will be expensive if you have to pay for it. Have you checked craigslist? I bought mine used for $150 and picked it up locally. I saw someone in the norcal forum selling one and I met up with him at a mod day meet.

But I need a place to wedge an extension ladder. I don't want a ladder rack for the top. On my Colorado, I had a flimsy Kobalt box and it had about 8 inches under to jam the bottom of the ladder.

As for Amazon, the shipping looks free so far. Unfortunately Buffalo's selection of Craigslist items is not that wide-ranging, believe me I have been checking. Amazon it will be.

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
rob... how about some pictures ?

I definitely wouldn't put white on a black truck. Chrome only if you have other chrome. Black on black would be the best in my opinion.

Dropped 4 J bolts through the slots in the tool box and hooked them into the rails on the side of the bed.

Black all the way. Check out the weather guard box. It's spendy but worth the extra $ in my book. Has a beefed up lid. Better locks, and the sliding tool tray is really handy
