I saw the advantages to that when I was young....But now it is just too nuts down there. At this point in my life it is a nice place to visit but I wouod not want to live down there.

The presidential candidates certainly make the next 4 years unappealing at best...

That whole mess just makes me shake my head.... Imagine Trump dealing with the foreign heads of state. What a shyte show that will be.

I tried to move to Ohio in '95 and it was insane. Honestly the only way in other than being a refugee of some sort is to marry in.

That happens a lot with .com vs .ca.

I normally just check the prices and do the conversion and see what one ends up cheaper after shipping and shit and order that one. My Hella fuse block was something like 25 dollars cheaper after the conversion and taxes through .com.

Amazons prices change often. you can use ca.camelcamelcamel.com to price track items and try to tell if im getting an item at a good price. I do this a lot, also if you buy am item and the price drops amazon will price match it inside of a window (14 days I think)

this radio for example shows the price at 103 ish before new years. The graph also tells us it should drop back down below 150 soon.

Also, you can get a decent 2m/70cm band radio for not much more, espically if you buy it used. if you want a cheap but not too bad one, have a look at a baofeng uv5r, its very entry level but impressive for the 40-50$ pricepoint. Theres lots of other options available at this pricepoint aswel, and im not saying the uv5r is the best, but im happy with them. You can get mag mount antennas to improve the recieve range. Keep in mind it is a 50$ radio so have realistic expectations.

A yaesu ft-60r is a fantastic handheld unit, and can be had for under 200$
even on amazon, or you can check out some of the canadian radio retailers although some of them may not sell to you without your callsign/licence.

Online in the East Coast FJ world is a guy named Tom that goes by FJToyman. He makes shock skids and gusseted spindles for Toyota's. A year or so ago he took a 94 PU and rebuilt it with a 4.3 Vortec dropped in. Works very well. This guy is super meticulous. The Toy mod stuff is a sideline. He owns a big sporting goods store in NJ.

Thats really neat! Some pretty niche products. The issue I am finding with the older pickups is a lot of these niche custom products that used to be available for the 3rd gens are now no longer produced. That and a lot of the tech articles have pictures that no longer work. Its a adventure though. I was actually looking for a 1.5 gen tacoma when I bought this pickup. It was a rust free truck from western canada and was well below my budget so I picked it up and spent some money on it. Everything is manual, I think the only option it has is intermittent wipers and tilt steering, but I love it and its a fun project.

Has a nicely built FJ and a big ass Tundra. I have his shock skids on my truck and they have saved me a few times. I gouge them off once a year and soak them in Tremclad....lol.

Good looking truck! Shame about the artic trash grill.. The shock skids are a great idea, looks like he was thinking when he came up with those. Is there a build thread anywhere on that pickup?

I was at the dealer in Dartmouth getting my MVI and spotted some classic Toyota goodness in the showroom...

Nice! An auto locker on a daily would be terrible. Tires are too expensive and I get enough funny looks as it is. Don't need screeching tires trying to back into a spot at Walmart. Or it to lock up around a corner during the winter.
