Same here. I got mine when I had to go to China for work and have had zero issues. I put the downpayment for the Mazda on it at the dealership (I was shocked a dealership would allow more than a few hundred dollars on a card). I love the perks that it comes with. Last year when I was flying back from Aruba the wife and I were able to use the airline credit to upgrade our seats for nothing out of pocket. We've gotten a few hundred dollars on their offers and the rental car coverage (and beefed up option) is quite nice as is the Shoprunner membership. I don't love the $195 yearly fee though.

I find smaller Mom-n-Pop places are the only times I've run into issues with them accepting it, outside of my car insurance. I have a few other cards for those.

I miss the days of my Chase Subaru card. I would get back 3% in Subaru bucks in $100 intervals. The program stated it was only good for purchase on a new car, OEM parts and accessories and repair work. However, Mastria Subaru would let me use the Subaru bucks for aftermarket accessories also. My AccessPort cost $270, my Cobb downpipe was $10, AEM UEGO was free and a set of Eibach springs and replacement driver's seat foam cost me $60 total. Ended up selling the springs because I was done being lowered, but it was pretty awesome.

 

So you have a thing for rusty 10-15 year old Buicks and minivans in various states of disrepair? Who knew?

 

I've got an LL Bean Visa. 1% back on purchases (paid out in LL Bean gift cards), free shipping (including returns), free monogramming. Plus an additional 1 year warranty on everything I buy with it, no annual fee, and I've used it all over the country, in Canada, and Jamaica with no problems (notified the company ahead of time that I'd be traveling)
Not crazy about the 13% interest rate, but I pay it off every month so that's not a big deal.

 

That $195 a year seems really high. Mind me asking what the card is? I'm actually looking for a visa/master card. I currently have an Amex. Do you guys have any suggestions on a card?

 

It's the AmEx Gold Premier Rewards.

I don't really care for either of my other two, but I keep 'em active since I've had them since I first had credit. I've got the basic Capital One card that hasn't given me a credit line increase since I was 19 that has 1.5% cashback and no other frills.

 

Weird I have 0 credit cards... I should get on that.

I was asking about the one in Boston. I was thinking of going Saturday night but I just found out I have to bring my son to a birthday party then.

 

I have one. Visa through Telephone Workers Crédit Union, my dad worked for the phone company forever. 7.9 APR no fee. Really gets used just for ordering concert tickets.

Anyone here using Google project FI for cell service? I'm contemplating switching off of att, who I've had since they were Cingular. Looking at average usage I don't really use that much data, about 4gb/mo on the higher end. I've got unlimited data still from my original iphone data plan, so does the wife. Even with the 18% discount I get its about $160/ for the two of us.

Also, we don't get cell service at our house. No carrier does for some reason which forces us to have a landline. We could get a microcell but they're expensive and have mixed reviews at best.

Google fi allows calls over wifi or cell network which would allow us to get rid the landline. Plus it's pretty damn reasonably priced. Anyone have first-hand experience with it in MA? Any problems, pros/cons?
