I know Toytec is right up the road, but I was wondering if anyone around here had a lead on some Dakars that would be coming up for sale soon. I just bought a set of used coilovers and the guy said he would throw in his Dakars as well, but Fastenal won't ship to Colorado because their trucks are too full. Not a rush on this, just putting out a feeler.

    Thanks

I always confirm an item is still available, do people really get spammed on Craigslist when selling?

God yes! Every time I sell something on CL I get a million people who message me asking only if the item is still available and then I never hear another word from them. So annoying. Now I specifically say in my ad that "if you're reading this it's still available SO DONT ASK". Really cuts down on the looky Lou's who have no intention of buying and are just wasting my time.

I get the opposite as a buyer. The item I'm looking for usually sold already and they "forgot to delete the listing"

Exactly. I don't know if it's people intentionally wasting my time, or what, but it annoys the crap out of me.

There's nothing wrong with asking if an item is still available as long as it is paired with an indication you are serious about purchasing. Such as when can we meet for me to take a look in person? That way you still find out whether it's available AND send a strong message you're seriously interested.

This. A THOUSAND TIMES THIS. If it's not some stupid 'I know times are tough and you have to sell something, but this is how I make $$$$ from home' spam reply, it's someone going 'is it still available?' and that's it, who even if you reply to you never hear back. If I contact someone about something, I always say either I want it or I want to look at it. I have run into the 'it's been sold' thing a few times, but nowhere near as much as I've been contacted 'do you still have it' and never heard another word. Depending on my mood and the nature of the email, I'll either a) not respond at all or b) respond with a simple 'yes' and nothing else. Sometimes I put the 'ad still up? it's still available' in my post, but that doesn't seem to have much of an impact.

Many, many times I've replied to an ad that said "If you're reading this, it's still available" only to find out that it's not, in fact, available. It was sold and they didn't delete the ad.

Basically, people act in their own self interest and that will never change :D Craigslist, buying or selling, is like throwing a bunch of shit at the wall and seeing if any of it sticks.
I love craigslist, bought and sold lots.

If I have a lot of tire kicking its priced competitively and both buyer and seller could get a decent deal.

I always delete mine right after I sell. And I don't even have a smartphone; people who do could literally do it as they're handed the cash or whatever. You're right though, too many people just can't do basic common courtesy stuff. And seriously, if you get annoyed enough to put that in an ad, you'd think you'd know how annoying it is to be on the other end of the stick.

I also like the 'hurry, priced great, will sell fast' lines... six months and four reposts later. :D

If you get annoyed easily you probably shouldn't use craigslist.

    Or the phone.

    Or the internet.

Or leave your house and talk to people.

    People are annoying
