I guess I'm wondering why people don't run synthetic diff oil since it lubircates so much better

This is what I'm using also. Honestly, I'm using it because it's what ECGS recommended.

Because I run what experts in their field recommended. Their reason is due to the extra cushion it provides versus the viscous synthetic.

They build axles and thirds for race cars and buggies with warranties. They know their field.

I'm not questioning if they know their stuff, I know they do. But they never told me really why not, just that they haven't seen good results.

X2 switched from M1 after getting a third from them and reading their recommendation. Does it make a difference? IDK.

Would a shock designed for 0-2" lift get damaged if I used it with 3" of lift for a short time?

If the shock is the limiting factor in travel then yes it could be damaged. In other words if the shock is what's keeping it from dropping or from traveling upwards you are bottoming out the shock (or compressing it fully).

Now to run it for a short period of time, only on paved roads and avoiding bumps (or going slow over speed bumps) you could probably get away with it.

If it's going to be awhile before you get the correct length shocks you can adjust your bump stops and have a limit strap installed which will keep the shock in the proper travel ranges

Picked up some Clevises, mounts, straps and some tabs. So where is everybody mounting there straps? I see some people are mounting in the front of the arm and some in the rear. What's better ? image.jpg

I don't think it matters as long as they don't interfere or rub on things at ride height (or compressed).

I think it really just depends on your setup. if you've got bypasses and bypass mounts some people mount there. Really just depends where the most room is so the strap can move freely

Edit- @Glueman beat me to it :D

Right on I was thinking about welding the tabs straight to the bump pad on the lower arms just don't know if that will be strong enough. I was going to double shear them as well

All that matters is that they clear and stop the arm where you want it to. So mount it where ever it fits. There is not really a wrong way unless it gets caught up in the shock or arm.

Tapatalk isnt letting me post anything but i tried posting my photo of my LCA and strap mount exactly where you talk about it. Just make sure its in far enough to clear the caliper and brake lines at full lock during travel.
