Stock skid plate removal

    I'm looking at buying the skid plate that comes on TRD Off-Roads, and I'm wondering how easy it is to take off the stock one. Also, how difficult is the install of the new one. Doesn't it just hook on to where the stock one hooked on at? Here's a picture for reference:

    You don't take the stock engine guard off. The one you have shown bolts on over it. The two front bolts are replaced with longer ones in the kit. Took maybe 10 minutes to put mine on by myself.

    Well I'm looking at buying the new one, painting it black, and then painting "TRD" on the plate.

    and the install will be the same regardless

    remove front bolts...replace with new longer bolts with new skid mounted

    it doesnt interfere with the current stock skids you have

    I have a silver truck so I left mine the original color. You hardly notice it under there.

    It looks good on a silver, but since my whole front is black except for the Toyota logo, it would be over-powering in my opinion.

    Personally, I wouldnt waste the money on it. If you do any offroading, that thing crumbles easily due the Al construction.

    As for the install, its fairly easy; hardly any thinking involved:)

    oil change...
    just loosen the rear two bolts and remove the front two. slip in the rear then the new bolts for the front two..

    Spend a few bucks more and get something made from steel. All-Pro / Bud Build, other....

    Install is just as easy, remove a couple bolts, replace, tighten a couple bolts.

    They are as simple as the OEM one but built stronger, they are not a bull bar or whole new bumber, just a skid plate made of 7 guage steel I think. The first time you hit the OEM one its gonna dent and crush and could potentially mess up your 4 wheel drive. I've read about it on here before.

    I figure if you are going to replace it do it right. That is just my opinion.

    If you never go off road or anything the OEM will be just fine and not to worry.
