    This fuel pump change is kicking my ass. First, the fuel vent line clamp was, well, clamped like a mother fucker lol. Ended up having to basically drop the tank until it was hanging from that line (jack under it so not full weight of the tank) and just press the shit out of the clamp and wiggle.
    Second- went to go pull the retaining ring off of the top of the pump, snapped my strap wrench. Sumbitch. So now an hour later I bought 2 just in case the second breaks lol. Hopefully the hard part is over. I think getting it back on will be easy, I know how to do it all now. FML.

    I've used a huge set of channel locks. I do have the tool for those tho. Also for lines that are stubborn spray them with silicone spray let it sit for a little an boom they usually slide right apart.

    yeah I almost bought the giant set of channel locks but got another 2 strap wrenchs for half the price lol. if that doesn't work then I'll just say F it and get the channel locks lol

    The ATI pulley? I paid $309 from Summit Racing. Just finished the install, and INSTANT difference in start-up idle. Purrs like a baby kitten now. I have pictures to share. It wasn't as easy as one would expect.

    Large flat head screwdriver. Tap tap tap.

    This is how the evening started, around 1840.

    Then it became a chore.... The cycle continued, of "I mod my mods."

    I had to hone out the I.D. to fit the crank shaft. The tolerance was to tight.

    Similar to how the original batch of NST lightweight pulleys were, after anodizing.

    Then I had to grind the O.D. of the washer to fit inside the crank pulley.

    And the finished product. I trimmed it down to 45.5x mm, and it slid right in.

    I will be sharing the information with ATI today. As well, I believe that a steel sleeve will need to be installed over the portion of the pulley which contacts the front main seal. Again similar to what was later installed on the NST pulleys.

    Overall, after those modifications, this pulley has already proven its worth from how smooth the engine runs now. From start-up to driving through the RPM range. If they implement the changes to the pulley, I will highly recommend it.

    So just got off of the phone with ATI. The pulley is supposed to be an interference fit. Luckily I made it to where it was a tight fit only and not as loose as the OEM. When all else fails, read the instructions. ;) Only way I can recommend installing it, that being the case, is freezing the crank shaft snout. Dry ice or spray.

    They did take note of the washer, as they had not known about that.

    Well, I got done checking everything and making everything look all pretty last night...go to start it up...fuel pump isn't kicking on. What the actual fuck. Spent another 20 minutes going over everything I could put a hand on. Guess what 1 thing I can't reach...the plug at the top of the tank that powers the fuel pump. And now I remember when I was lifting the tank up in place I went to go plug that in and it didn't quite reach yet so I figured I'd come back to it and went about connecting everything else...and then lifted the tank and bolted it in. Sigh.

    I still need to swap in my Walbro. Sigh. Hopefully I don't encounter that same doh! moment. ;)

    The problem was the level I had the tank at to have adequate room to reach in and connect the stuff on the back wasn't high enough to connect the electrical, and then I got excited that I got all the crap on the back connected and just cranked it up in place lol. Doh!

    The real question is, how much of a difference will you notice, now with the clean filter and new pump?

    Well, when I first got everything on I could see 8 PSI, now a days if its below 50 in the morning I can see 7.5 maybe almost to 8. And I was having a flat spot of power in the upper RPMS that I really think was max fuel pressure, so we'll see.
