2 Tacoma Questions....

I am by no means an expert on Tacoma's, but I am learning a lot in a hurry...

#1 The Tacoma I am rebuilding has been sitting for 4 years. I am almost to the point of starting it. But I was wanting to prime the oil pump first, if possible. I know on my 90 Mustang GT I can pull the Distributer and I have the parts that go down to the oil pump drive shaft and I just hook a drill on the end and run the pump to circulate the oil before starting the engine. Is there a way of priming the oil pump on a 2.7 Tacoma??? If not I guess I will just pull the fuse to the ecm and crank it over for a while...

Does anyone know if this is possible???


#2 I had no gas door lock, so I got a junk yard one with no key (just for the hardware), my ignition key only works the original passenger door. The driver door has been changed out and no longer has the original key. Is there any place that sells a Re-Key kit??? A way I can have one key to work all new key cylinders for the truck???

If it is possible to prime the oil pump... Thats what I really need to know the most. I am looking to take the locks to a lock smith.

 

Man, I "HATE" the gas door lock. The guys that pump gas just slam it shut and the keys always hit the truck. I'm waiting for someone to scratch the truck. Most of them don't care, or ain't smart enough to care. I actually THANK the ones that I can see care, and close it with care. Yeah, NJ Law, we can't pump our own gas here. So don't start with the replies saying, "then do it yourself".

 

ahhh.... that was the info I was looking for. Thank you. I guess thats just the way it goes when you don't have a distributer.

Well, you could drive to PA and pump your own gas.

 

Man that sucks that you can't pump your own gas. There is only like one gas station around here that pumps your gas for you
