Yeah, they were identical from 1988-2007, body-wise. Decals changed and that was about it. The net and clips are handy, though. Saves me having to wear a backpack if I just want to bring a lunch with me.

They are nice little bikes. Not a ton of power, but if you don't shift until 12 or so they're a lot more fun. I've put about 12-13k on mine since I bought it without anything other than just routine maintenance like oil changes and chain lube, etc. It's been super cheap to operate, really. I bought it in 2009 for $1500 because I was doing a long-distance commute in a truck and the gas bill was killing me. Put 7-8k on it that first summer alone, before I got a job closer to home. But for $90 a year in insurance and $40 a year in registration I've held onto it just because it's a fun little bike. :notsure:

Exactly! I commute to class on it and I get to park right in front of my classes as well. My commute is only a couple miles but they sure do add up. Filling up is only about 8-10 bucks and I filled up for the first time this semester a couple of weeks ago. I bought mine in '12 for 1300 off a car dealership (wanted it gone because they they deal with motorcycles and I was the first one to call out of 20). Been using for college and been nothing but reliable. Mine is the perfect power of speed and gas milage. Wish it was more comfortable, can't go more than an hour riding it.

What about it isn't comfortable for you? Too much wind buffeting, or is it the seat? Or just the riding position itself?

The Ninja's as a line are generally pretty comfortable to ride. I've been on everything from the 250 to the 1000's, so I'm kind of surprised that you get uncomfortable on it. I've even toured on a 250, all over New England after I graduated high school.

edit- I think that @CanisLupus has put some decent miles on his since he bought it, too.

Seat is hard and the leaning forward position hurts my back. I might invest in a Corbin seat if I do not get a dual sport bike when I graduate in May.

Gotcha. I hear that the Corbins do make a big difference. I'm a short guy so I don't have to lean far, so I can't really offer advice on that one, lol.

I've had a Corbin with a previous bike and they're all about firm comfort, if that works for you. Not cheap either. You could look into bar risers to re-position the bars further back.

They work pretty good. I ditched mine for the rigidity and pattern of the Maxtrax. Threw the SB boards in the wife's T4R.

Yeah I just don't want to spend 350+ on a seat for something I use for a 4-6 mile commute a day roundtrip. It's just a pain when I ride for an hour or more but that's not their intended use, more of a sport bike to me. It works great for getting around and have no problem with size or pain for what I use it for

I own 4 of them for my flooring business.

My employees like to write "Free Candy" on the sides when they get dirty.
