I simply just like the Tacoma better. Both are great. I even did a month-long 4Runner rental prior to making up my mind.

Because SUV's are the new soccer mom vans...LOL! Joking aside I go fishing and don't want any of my fish or gear in the vehicle. I'd love to have a 1st Gen 4Runner tho...

I chose my Tacoma over the 4Runner because I didn't want dirty ski boots and skis in the back and very few ski boxes can carry skis over 180cms, let alone 191cms. Made the decision easy.

Alot of "I want to be able to carry dirty stuff" posts.

The bed is the only superior thing in a Tacoma.

Otherwise those who "prefer" a Tacoma over a 4runner are the same people who would "prefer" a Porsche Cayman over a 911.:der:

I thought about a 4 runner.... I didn't want to throw a deer carcass inside my vehicle.

My gal bought the 2016 4Runner SR5 Premium and I got the 2016 Taco. Now I suffer Transmission/Motor Inferiority complex because the powerband feels so much better in her 4Runner and she's only getting .6 mpg less than my Taco.

I impulse purchased a 15 Runner Ltd. that gal had everything down to the air vented seats! She ran like a champ and had the smoothest ride!

Traded it for a 16 Taco. I needed to haul shit in a truck that I couldn't afford to put in a SUV.

I dearly miss the T4R! But my Inferno TRDORSB sure does turn heads and I can haul shit! (Literally, I move horse manure!)

Why not? That way you could use the carpool lane. "Hey officer, don't disturb my friend, he's dead tired"

We have both. I love my truck; great for throwing things in the back but I love that 4Runner too. It's so nice and quiet and roomy! Sometimes I try to hijack the wifey's ride but that is a no-go.....:duel:

I'm a prophet of my own mind. The '07 Runner doesn't have the cargo isolated from the cabin like a truck but you can put a Weathertech or Husky tub-type liner in the rear to keep the carpet clean. 2nd row seats folded down gives 5'9" in the rear. Tailgate window powers down but it's only a 44" wide opening so 4x8 sheets are out. It has a stout roof rack, 1580lbs payload.

4.7l has the same tow package as the Tacoma, 9.1" stock ground clearance. ABS seems less sensitive than the Tacoma and the Tundra (which is a good thing to me). On a dirt road I had to slam the brakes a couple times, didn't get the thunka-thunka-thunka and wasn't thinking 'please for the love of god slow down before I hit this washout'. I'm pretty sure the Tacoma or the Tundra would have been thunka-thunka-thunkaing in the same situation.

23 gallon fuel tank is a bonus, 190" vehicle and it has a 23 gallon tank. I can't understand why the offroad beast Tacoma still has the tiny 21 gallon tank. The 1st Gen Tundra which is the same size had a 26.5 gallon tank, wtf Sweers. I'm staying oldschool Toyota.

I'm on the same boat. I really like the 4runner for its off-road capability, but it seems like the Techs and drive-train are out-dated for today's standard. And there is the price, a trail premium would cost around 43k if you can find one. At that point, you are at fully loaded Tundra territory. Which would you guy pick? 4Runner Trail, 16 Tacoma OR, or a Tundra?

Why not go used? I know some people like the latest and greatest, but damn, these new vehicles don't seem to be an improvement. Poor bang for the buck.
