Does it matter where the truck is built? I know it can either be built in Texas or Mexico and I'm just wondering where the trucks that are experiencing this issue are coming from.

I read at the very beginning of this thread this problem wasn't relegated to the Off road versions. I didn't get to read everything after. Are Off Roads having this issue as well? I take ownership of my OR in a few weeks.

EER: Not to down play the extent of the problem, but some owners on this forum have said that the OR is not experiencing the same "intensity" as the A/T versions, but nonetheless, its showing up on all most all of the 3rg Gen trucks to one degree or another...some more than others.

I have to say I hate I found this thread in a way. I was super pumped about getting my first taco. Now I'm worried. I will still probably get the truck but I will definitely be test driving it.

I just ordered one yesterday. I'm worried too. I was hoping a May or later build date might give then time to resolve this on new builds at least. This thread bummed me out! Seems like it's not really an issue for people on some trucks, but I'm not sure I wanna gamble. My deposit is fully refundable for any reason so I've got time.

Yeah lots of people on here seem to be enjoying their trucks so that's what made me pull the trigger. Look around the other threads... Lots of people saying they love their trucks!

I started feeling it in the wheel and pedal at about 1000 miles on my 4x2 DCSB - only at about 32-3500 RPMs. Luckily the truck doesn't spend much time in that range. Smooth as silk otherwise

Hey @Ben91z28 any update from the dealer on your dealer's "potential" fix? You seem to have gotten further than anyone else regarding the dealer looking into your issue (and at least trying to test a fix).

Truck built 3/11 in texas. 4x4 Off Road manual transmission. Definitely buzzing in the steering wheel. Also got the vibration when coming to a stop (even if I do it in neutral).

I should note I notice the buzzing most in 6th gear at 2000 RPM while applying gas.

So looks like it is still happening in newer trucks.

Yes, it has been there since day 1, but I think I notice it more now as I become more used to the truck and more comfortable with driving a new vehicle.

As I previously posted #1052 I did follow up with my appointment at the dealership on March 30th. Initially I engaged in a discussion with the service manager, expressing my concern about a potential condition in which customers reported experiencing a “Buzzy vibration at Certain RPM’s…” I provided specific information as outlined by members of this forum indicating specific RPM ranges, where the problem might be found and encapsulated their experiences. While the manager and all personal I came in contact with seemed genuinely concerned, they also indicated they had no awareness of this problem nor has any one brought forth a complaint to this dealership. So far, so good, however, I requested to “test drive” another vehicle. They obliged and I was allowed to try a 2016 Tacoma DC TRD Off Road, with an automatic. The temperature was 55 degrees, sunny blue sky with a nice dry feel to the air. The truck had the factory white plastic on the hood, and 4 (four) miles on the odometer. After adjusting the mirrors, off I went. I did not want to bring it up on the Interstate to reach the RPM range needed to either confirm or deny the issue involved. Instead I used the “S” mode shifting up or down to reach the 2000-2500 RPM range. Within in this range, sure enough, there it was, the most strange and peculiar sensation in the steering wheel, annoying and as described in many posts. Yes, I only experienced this in the steering wheel however, it literally only took a couple miles to duplicate this issue. When I returned to the dealership needless to say, I was disappointed. I explained my findings to the sales person who has always been accommodating and he immediately suggested I wait to place an order till more information could be gathered or the 2017’s come out. Sound advice except for the 2017’s coming out. Might they have the same problem? If a truck with 4 miles on it coming out the door has a problem which can be duplicated within in a couple miles, how likely is it that the problem will be carried over if Toyota does not address this to begin with? I do not want to rain on anyone’s parade; facts are more difficult than dreams to accept. Marketing is a game of psychology. Taking emotion out of any buying decision at best is a very difficult task. Better it is dealt with before a purchase, than after. Easier said than done, I experience this myself. No, I did not place an order for the TRD Off Road. I will still look at other options, four cylinders. I also drove a SR with a 4 cylinder before I drove the above vehicle at the same dealership and could not duplicate the above described condition. Have to re assess my needs. Again I do hope a resolution is available for all in a timely manner. I plan to call Toyota corporate again to share this information. As an aside I called a local dealership and spoke with a service manager I have faith in and he indicated he had no awareness of the conditions described or complaints from customers. Now, he was first to acknowledge the tyranny fluid fill level condition and a few other conditions which have been coming up and others I was not aware of. So, if the above individuals are providing factual information then there is a communication problem. Communication seems to travel from the local level up, but not from the corporate level down to the service managers, hmm.
