Can someone give me a good reason why you wouldn't wear a seatbelt while sitting in the seat when clearly they save lives?

I always drive with my seatbelt on when I'm on the road, but there will be some times where I'll drive for a short amount of time (within my storage unit facility, parking lots, etc) where I'd rather not listen to that annoying beep even though it's not for that long.

I work on farms a lot with my truck and am jumping in and out all the time. I'm going like 20 mph max I don't wear a seatbelt. There are many scenarios where a seatbelt is dumb as hell bro.

Joe it is called personal responsibility it is our choices to choose what risks and benifits are best for own lives. If you understood responsibilities of Liberty you would have known not to ask such a silly question. Unfountnatly so many Americans have lost the ability to think for themselves they follow any mandated regulation the leviathan dictates. I understand seat belts save lives but that's my choice to wear one or not.
P.S it's also my choice not to hear that fxxcking chime.

I just wish I had a choice when it comes to paying your medical bills (through taxes and insurance).

I get what your saying and understand it's your right. The only issue I see is if you influence a kid to not wear theirs by your actions. They do not understand the risks. So please make them wear one and explain why.

Joe, I turned mine off because my dog in the front seat always makes it go off.

I have never passed through a state that I am aware of that it isn't the law. Been to every single state on the east cost from Maine to Florida and over to Ohio, West Virginia, Vermont and New Hampshire.

I'm pretty sure no one is saying they don't or won't wear a seatbelt when driving on public roads. My friggin driveway is over 700 ft and I don't want to hear that chime after I pick up the mail!

    Ease up fellas.

In general principal, i'm totally with you, but I'll give you the one piece of support most people don't think of...

If you have to do an emergency maneuver, being buckled in can easily mean the difference between a crash and a close-call.
You owe it to everyone on the road to be in full control of your vehicle. You simply cannot be in full control of a vehicle without being buckled in. There are plenty of angles, speeds, shifts, and turns where you WILL loose control without being stabilized in place. You're welcome to kill yourself without a belt, but if a belt means the difference between someone else dying or living, then it's your responsibility to use one.

I think approaching this topic from that angle is a much smarter play than the alternative.

I hope you can pay the bill, and not me, when your a veg in a bed in a coma for two years. So while your choosing to be so independent and responsible, think about the poor person who has to live with seeing your mashed up twisted corpse on the roadside somewhere. It's not all about you. Ever think about the people who love you? please spare me the lecture about personal responsibility,....... jr.
