Just got back from an hour ride with the new springs installed. Stock springs were .43, racetech recommended .48 but i opted for the .50 springs. Hour work which really should have took 30 mins and the difference in handling is amazing. So much more planted in corners and nose dives during braking are completely gone. Best 149ish spent on this bike after tires, can't use the power to it's potential without a good base. Next up possibly are gold valves and rear spring, mostly likely just rear spring. Highly encourage if you have a super soft front end to get on racetech's website, you will not regret this buy at all!

I have the Shoei GT-Air, drops noise to 85 db, then I wear ear plugs that are also headphones. They block out another 25 db. I can still hear my bike, I notice right away if anything is off. I can also listen to comms: Talk to other riders, listen to music, etc.

Between the Army, working concerts, construction work, shooting, and power tools in general my hearing isn't great and I am doing what I can to prevent it from getting worse. I feel it also reduces fatigue on long rides not having that much noise to be processed.

Totally agree on this. I notice a lot less fatigue on a long ride with the earplugs in than when I forget them at home.

Makes the tailgating cagers keep their distance, though.

To my way of thinking, it's a huge leap to go from "the smart thing to do is wear a helmet" (agree) to "there aught to be a law forcing people to wear helmets" (strongly disagree)

You realize that every single argument in favor of a helmet law could be reused verbatim in an argument that motorcycles should be illegal?

I dont think people should be forced to wear one either but if you get hurt while not wearing one then it shouldnt put a burden on anyone else regardless of fault. You made a stupid decision so you get to live with the consequences.

Just know that there are lots and lots of cagers out there that feel the same way about you riding a motorcycle.
Do you think a motorcycle rider who gets injured by a cager shouldn't put a "burden" on that cager regardless of fault?

After all, had you been driving a car like a normal, sane person, you wouldn't have been injured it would have just been a fender bender. Why should they be responsible for your reckless, stupid decision to operate a 2 wheeled vehicle with no airbags or seatbelts?

By not wearing your helmet, you're putting the system at more risk of a larger burden if that makes sense.

Theoretically, more resources of LE, fire, EMS, hospital care, etc are going to be used if you are injured not wearing a helmet than if you did.

A lot of laws are meant to improve and protect society as a whole rather than being a meanie and not letting people do what they want.

Now replace "not wearing a helmet" with "riding a motorcycle".

It's not apples and oranges, it's the exact same argument.

Are you willing to give up your personal freedom to ride a motorcycle in order to improve and protect society as a whole?

If everyone wore helmets, less people would die in motorcycle accidents.

If no one rode motorcycles, no one would die in motorcycle accidents.

People die every year skiing. No one needs to ski. Shouldn't we improve society by eliminating skiing deaths entirely?

If only we could harness the power of government to force everyone to think and act in a manner we deem appropriate, what a wonderful world this could be.

That makes since, but then I could say, well look at all the money and time people spend to care for themselves from health related issues related directly to smoking. There's not laws stopping that.
