Do anyone's dealers say anything about having aftermarket hids installed?
Wanna know just in case I should take them out before going in

How do you know? Did you put die in the old oil before you took it in for servicing?
On Toyotas running 0W-20 I don't believe dealers are giving away extra oil changes that Toyocare won't reimburse them for.
Not saying 10K interval is wrong, that's what I'm doing with my 4Runner and Taco since I only tow a few times a year and don't play rockcrawler anymore.

Speedbird, don't think twice about your hids. Dealer could/should care less.

I checked the oil before and after Today. Call me paranoid but I just felt it was a bit odd that the scheduled 5k mile inspection and an oil change could be done in under an hour. Oil seem very light indicating it was changed and my wiper fluis was topped so I'm assuming they did everything as promised.
My truck is at 5500 miles.

Only thing that bugged me was the brake fluid resavoir was oily...is this normal? Why would it leak?

There are certain severe driving conditions that Toyota recommends changing the oil at 5K miles instead of 10K. But if you read the ToyotaCare fine print it specifically states that those items listed in the maintenance guide under special operating conditions are excluded. Some dealers may do the 5K oil change as a courtesy but I wouldn't expect it from all of them.

Local dealer has 2 express service bays just for Toyota Care. You sit in front of a glass walled waiting room while you watch your truck getting serviced. i
saw them check the transmission fluid at 10K without me requesting it. There is an $11 charge if you want to upgrade to Mobil 1.

Just went in for my 5000 mile service, never asked them about changing the oil knowing that Toyotacare says 10,000 miles. Paperwork they gave me says 7 qts of oil and filter cartridge were done. Sure as hell not going to complain, but they better not try to start charging me at 15K saying my two freebies are up! I never asked for it to be changed at 5K, but do appreciate it.

I got hooked up for my 5k service oil change and all. The service manager told me it wont count against my next service at 10k. We chatted and got along really well. He mentioned he had no problem approving anyone to get any scheduled maintenance ahead of time. I was also the first 3rd gen to come in for service so I might have gotten the star treatment idk :D

In Canada there is no free Toyota Care. I went in for my free computer modifications...(silence seatbelt chime etc) which was promised as free when I bought the truck. I also wanted the ATF checked, and had to promise to pay them for that if the level proved to be correct (which it did not).
When I left they charged me $60 dollars (plus 13% tax) for "first service" which included a tire rotation and checklist for stuff like "inspect wiper blades" and signal lights etc... I never asked for this service to be performed. I have complained to the service mgr. and he said he will refund the charge. Be certain when you take your truck in to the dealer that they only do what is asked of them.
I think 68 $ is a bit steep to glance at a few things on the truck with a clipboard in hand and rotate 4 tires.
    Oh Canada! :canada:

If you want to see the "official" schedule and procedures for Toyotacare, read this:
    http://www.toyota.com/content/ebrochure/toyotacare.pdf

On the other hand, if your driving habits are such that you will "miss" the last free visit (your free 2 years pass before the 25.000 mileage limit expires), your dealer will allow you to get your first maintenance visit done before 5000 miles. (That would be a good time to complain about any "unanticipated features" of your truck, such as wind noise, hard shifting, etc)

    Note the fine print:
"3. Toyota recommends service every 6 months or 5000 miles. Vehicles service based solely on time will receive up to 4 services under the ToyotaCare plan.:

    Additional observations:
Several posters in TW have stated they changed oil early, because they thought that was A Good Thing To Do. Some have stated they saw metal particles in the old oil, even when oil was changed early. Some have said the oil was dirty.

So, can you believe what you read here (or anywhere on the Net)?

I'm with you T... I didn't pay for the so called "Toyota Care".... So they can look at my floormats, etc...God damn..!! The ONLY thing in the 8000Km service that IS worth anything is the tire rotation.... Guess what..!@!... we all have winter tires in Canada and rotate our tires anyway according to the season, not the mileage..!! I asked the dealer for "06 Taco if they would "rotate" my tires in the spring, by putting on the summer tires in the bed of the truck...guess what...NO was the answer..!!

They never got a chance to touch that truck and it ran great for 110,000 before my upgrade to the 16.... Total waste of time and $..!!:canada::annoyed::annoyed:

OP - Didn't your daddy ever tell you that the only two things in life that come for free is Hard Dick and Bubblegum. And we're just about out of free Bubblegum. But if it's a screwin' you want, it's a screwin' you'll get.

No oil change till 16,000 kms. Unless you really want it done now, I would not.

They WILL check your driver's floor mat though. That's a plus....++++!!
