I couldn't part with my '03 when I bought my '14. I thought the '14 would grow on me but I traded it on a '16 last night ands so far I like the '16 better then I ever liked the '14. My '03 is not going anywhere with 190,000+ miles on it.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
That's a lot of mod money. Enough to buy a tow rig and trailer.

I do miss the more utilitarian feel of my 1st gen but all the fancy stuff about my '16 that I had never had before (power windows and locks) are really starting to grow on me lol

I've got less the 24 hours with my '16 Sport and I know it is the truck I wanted when I bought my '14.

Loved my 04 v6. Congrats on the new truck. I drove a 2014 v4 and it felt way too underpowered compared to my 04 v6. Enjoy your truck.

Glad to see my '01 4x4 Doublecab with 145K that my daughter's driving is still worth so much. I enjoy driving my '16 but like to take the '01 for a spin when she's home from college.

Congrats, I made a similar decision...was looking at getting a new 2016, but unfortunately where I'm at right now I couldn't afford anything other than the base 4x4 model. Was about ready to pull the trigger on one when I came across an '04 with 24k miles on it (garage kept in Arizona most of it's life) and the rest is history. A 2016 with the TRD package and 4x4 would have cost me twice as much, which I can't afford.

143k miles on a first gen is still relatively low, when I was looking at them most were north of 200k and higher. Still has a lot of life left in it enjoy it! I've also always loved the look of the first gens over the newer Tacomas. The newer ones are still great looking, but I've always been drawn to the look of smaller pickups.

Oh, and the demand for first gens out here in Southern California is ridiculous too...they are always being sold for well over KBB value and you never see them listed for very long.

That is a very good decision. 1st Gens are awesome and to find one like that is totally awesome. Glad you can find something that fits your lifestyle and your budget.

Very wise decision and good luck to you and your new purchase!

    Hey thanks!

Oh, and it's TRD supercharged too :burnrubber:

I originally asked them to take it off when I bought it because I didn't think it would be practical for me, but they offered to take another 2 grand off the price of the truck if I kept it on (they had the truck priced well over KBB initially and wouldn't budge, the whole "someone else will be right behind you to buy this" speech)...I figure I can buy quite a bit of premium fuel with that lol.

OP so what's the first mod you have planned with all that $$ you saved buying the first gen? Personally I'm looking into a softop over the bed, also sliders.
