I was thinking about getting a Raptor, but didn't like the size. With the Tacoma I can park it in my garage (with my wife's car too) and its easier as a daily driver.

My new Titan easily turns tighter than my old DCLB Tacoma, my work f250 extra cab and the new 2015 F150. I was actually very very impressed by the turning radius.

The 2015's have a 3/4" lift over previous years as well. And although the specs sheets didn't change, me and another member on Titan talk have measured at nearly 11.5". The 28 gallon tank is a necessity when you get 14-16mpg:(

It's called a Brute, and I would say around $70,000.

Would you care to share how it isn't? I'm not trying to be rude, I'm planning to buy when the '17s hit the lot and I want to get as many opinions as possible.

The biggest reasons I didn't buy a Tacoma:

    1) way overpriced IMO compared to full size.
    2) IMO underpowered compared to my 2nd gen
    3) gas mileage, fuelly is around 18.5
    4) interior still isn't up to where a $40,000-$50,000 pickup should be.
(I'm Canadian and that's the going price for a TRD/Limited)

I owned a 2013 Limited, bought it for 45,000 OTD in 2013. Toyota wanted over 50,000 for a new 2016 Limited.

    They wanted 32,000 for a Tacoma 4cyl 4x4 sr5.

I got my 2015 Titan Pro4x for 32,000. The comparable TRD OR access cab is over $40,000

    Easy decision.

I thought that was AC cowling's bronco... At least that's what the TV show said. OJs had been impounded but AC had an identical one.

I had a ridgeline before my Tacoma. It had 108k on the clock when I got it and 164k when I traded it. It had higher payload than the taco and a smoother car-like ride. It lacked ground clearance and I really got tired of throwing parts at it. Nothing major ever went wrong, but I had to fight to get it to pass emissions every year. It had some fickle sensors that would trip a check engine light in certain weather conditions... 50-70F and damp, so every spring and fall. My emissions were due in may regret year.

I test drove 3 different 2016 Tacomas but decided to go for a '16 Nissan Pro 4x. It's on order now and should get it in about a month. Paying under invoice! Even they were a bit louder inside I think the Pro had much better power and even comfort with the adjustable seats.

Went through the Costco program and with the rebate came to slightly under invoice. I compared my price to a couple other invoice/msrp quotes on the Internet. I think their just willing to deal on these because the new Tacos are hurting their sales so much.

I would choose a Nissan Frontier.

It's 90% the Nissan Navara which is Nissan's global pickup to compete with the Toyota Hilux, which is Toyota's global pickup. People worldwide depend on those vehicles in harsh environments so they are built to the toughest specifications.

The Tacoma on the other hand was designed for the North American market with its excess cup holders, composite bed etc. It's not even in the same league in build quality as the Hilux or Navara/Frontier with its disintegrating frame, vibration issues etc.

I feel the Tacoma was designed under the impression of American consumerism where it will be bought and traded or sold after a few years hence the poorer build quality.

Frontiers can be bought at a bargain now because of new competition from the new GM twins and updated Tacomas. This will be the case until Nissan sells an updated Frontier here.

Just look at some of the technologies being incorporated into other trucks, mainly their engines, and compare the 'new' Tacoma. When it comes to moving trucks forward I believe Ford remains on the leading edge, especially when they start pairing their new transmission with their impressive Ecoboost engines.

I'm not trying to bash Toyota or the 'new' Tacoma but as I've said before, it seems to me that Toyota has opted to punt when it comes to keeping their trucks on par with other makers. The Tacoma is great/reliable but the product line gets more and more outdated as time goes on.

Good luck on your search for a new truck!

The only reason I didn't go with a F-150 was because I just can't trust the ecoboost engines yet on the truck. Yeah they are great right now and deliver loads of power, but let's see how well all that holds up 10-15+ years from now (the time frame I hope to keep my Tacoma).

I bought a Tacoma, but I'll be the first to admit if they lose the reliability image with this generation, well....there won't be much left....

My first choice was always a Tacoma, but a 4runner and an F-150 were second. I was trading a 2011 4Runner and the new ones were to close to what I had, and to get the F-150 the way I wanted it would have cost $50k...so the Tacoma was an easy choice.
