My 2013 has hill assist so I'm assuming Toyota just cheaped out or something.

Doubt it. My 16' SR has hill assist. This bad boy has no options, not even rear seats. I can see how in an off road situation you may want to roll back a bit and hill assist could get in the way so they removed it to make it more predictable. I don't think they were being cheap since it would just be programming that has already been developed and used in other trim levels. It's hard to say.

Folks. I am very inclined on buying an MT. Earlier I was looking to get an AT with tech package and Tow package . I am wondering if someone can help understand what other features will I loose if I were to go MT route. I heard Crawl gets deleted. Also Can I add a tech package without having to add the ugly tri-fold ? Toyota site does not show the option.

I know there is a constant gripe about the vibrations in the auto equipped trucks but I have one that seems to be only on deceleration. Coming down from any speed (in gear or not), regardless of how much brake pedal pressure I use, there will be a quick vibration that comes thru the steering wheel first at ~25mph, stops, and then the virbration is felt in the brake pedal at ~23mph, and stops before i hit 20mph. Does not occur during acceleration, or if I keep the truck at that 23-25mph speed.

Truck has approx 1200 miles on it and is a DCSB 4x4 TRDOR (completely stock).

Anyone else have a similar issue? Tires are running about 33psi cold at the moment.

M/T will remove Crawl Control on the TRD off road, remove Push Button start on both TRD trims (because you get Clutch Start Cancel), and you won't get a separate key for the tailgate lock (your ignition key will work).

Tri-fold cover is completely optional, even if the toyota website doesn't let you "build" it that way. Options are based on the zip code you enter, but I was able to order my truck without it no problem.

Thanks. I guess I could order one with tech pack and tow and without a tri cover. Will talk to dealer when I am ready. Anyone knows if Trd pro will come in MT ?

You can limp your truck from the starter. If you are in a precarious place you can limp it. Truck dies in traffic, limp to the shoulder on the starter. I use it as an I'm lazy device when I am prewarming my truck in the winter so I don't have to get in it to push the clutch.

But if its in gear? You'd still have to press it in and put the shifter in neutral. amirite?

edit: can we program our fobs or get a new fob that activates that button and install a remote starter?

    just curious

I just push it to neutral without the clutch while it is off, good point actually, is that bad for it? And yeah if you parked in neutral and could activate that switch a remote start would theoretically work.

No. The original and primary purpose of Clutch Start Cancel is to get moving in off-road conditions without the possibility of roll back. If you had to be in neutral for it to work that would completely defeat the point.

Which is why i was curious. So, if i'm in 4low and a sticky situation off road just clutch start cancel in gear and it will get me crawling again, no rollback?

Rodger. Another handy use, if your lower clutch switch ever goes it will allow you to start your truck until you replace it.

Nice, I had to order my TRD OR DCSB MT in NJ as well (ordered from Dayton Toyota after emailing about 6 dealers some of which said I couldn't get a TRD OR manual). inferno is nice.

If you ever smack the wall on an icy overpass and have an 18 wheeler barreling down on you, clutch start cancel rules. The clutch start cancel in my '91 Hillux literally saved lives.

This is my first M/T vehicle so I don't have much experience, but:

    1. I notice when shifting from 1st to 2nd at a lower RPM level, there is loud clunking and banging that I can hear happen as I shift. Is this normal?

    2. 1st gear seems to be over with extremely quick. This affects me most when I'm first in line at a red light waiting to make a left turn at a large intersection. When the light turns green do you guys just slow go through the turn, do you shift right away, or how do you do it? I've heard it's best not to shift midway through a turn so Im not quite sure of the best way to approach it.

    2. I use higher rpms to finish the turn or shift. I recall the advice about not changing gears in a turn was for heavy trucks. I like a low first gear and reverse gear.
