Yeah, but it means I don't have to lug that thing around, haha!
And after you've had some practice, a percolator actually makes a really good cup of coffee.

Any reason for a lumbar pack over a regular pack? I have a couple small packs I use for hiking. I actually like my ski ones best as it had a "helmet pocket" that expands quite well to first extra jacket.

I'm a pretty good sized fella and I want my back to be open for ventilation purposes. I find when I'm wearing a regular pack I stay hotter than without. I also find it easier for me to navigate rocks etc and not feel like I'm going to be shifted around by a pack

Many pack makers now have a ventilated mesh back panel making them quite breezy!

Proper tensioning on all the straps, especially the sternum strap, keeps the pack stable and not pulling you over.

I sometimes use a lumbar on shorter desert hikes, for the same ventilation concerns. If I need to carry more than will fit in 10-15 L then I'll switch to a daypack as I hate the way an over-stuffed lumbar messes with my balance in the rocks.

I have the 2 + and I'm 6'1". You'd like the extra room for gear and whatnot. Not an absolute necessity and you probably won't notice it if you never get a chance to compare the two side by side. Just my $.02.

I have been looking at their day pack with straps. Seems like good reviews on Amazon etc.
