Was driving when all of a sudden the Head unit dropped all connections and rebooted twice. Most of the settings got reset but the phone stuff was still good to go.

What all do they update on these trucks OTA??

Since I bought mine in February, I haven't had an update. But when it was updating it did reboot whilst me driving.

Mine did that too on Sunday.....which was close to the day my xm trial ended.....I did get 6 months of xm......I'm wondering if it did something because of that? It had not done it before and has not done it since. ...... maybe the xm programming updates?

Those head units are notorious for just shutting down and rebooting. Mine has done it several times. I don't think it's an update, I think it's an issue with the units. To do an update without notifying you would be pretty stupid because I could see a lawsuit if it caused problems with navigation or communications without warnings that somehow caused an accident.

I also continually lose my XM sound settings. I'm hoping there is a software update when I take mine in for the 5k service.

BTW, was it raining when it happened? Several people, me included, experience this during rain.

Yesssssssssss! It was. I will add that to my notes for my 5000....esp since we have rain coming again soon. What's funny is I initially thought fml because of a leak or something.....the whole rain and leak theory was my FIRST reaction. ...ugh

There is updated software that is being loaded on 5000 and 10,000 mile maintainenece. I had the same problem (in some cases it would just keep re-booting for 20 to 30 minutes straight). Since I had the update on my 10,000 mile checkup and oil change, that has stopped happening and all is good with that.

As an FYI, I also had them clear the transmission memory and have re-trained my transmission. In most cases the transmission has stopped wanting to downshift even second and I have increased my gas mileage too (I may have also learned to drive the truck better too).... :)

Also, for anyone in the Northern Virginia area, I purchased my truck from Warrenton Toyota. When I took the truck in for it's 5,000 mile checkup, the repair people were condescending, rude and flat out assholes. All of the issues I was having initially with the truck, which seem to systemic all over this sight, I was told I have no idea what I was talking about and they were not going to check any of the things I had issues with. I went to a Toyota Dealer in Herndon, they not only checked the things I asked them to check they found:

Transmission fluid was low (yes I have a towing kit)
The U-Bolts on the rear axle were not torqued to the right setting
They uploaded software to fix the above problem with my Head Unit
They found the rear axle fluid was low-filled it
They checked and filled any other fluids that needed them
    Cleared my transmission memory
    They washed my truck completely

The moral of this information, do not do business with Warrenton Toyota, they are dirt bags. The management even tried to bait me into an argument with them. Oh and the best one...their finance "manager" told me I needed their upgraded coverage, because if I hit a rock those expensive wheels I will cost me over $1,200 to replace just one of them. Unknown to him I had just looked at new factory wheel for the OR model (which I have) and they are $285ish new on E-bay...what a bunch of schmuks.

I just printed your list to add to my notes on my cell for when I go in for my 5000....fingers crossed...............I can be mean and stuff when I need to. I had even considered just asking them if they had a resolution to the trans issue that someone else was in there for (basically implying I knew someone had bitched----even tho I have no idea if any have here).....

I picked my truck up December 26, 2015...I now have 10,432 miles on the truck. I did not start seeing the rebooting problem until there was about 4,800 miles, not that I even think that has anything to do with it. The strange thing is it always happened at the same location (VA Highway 66 and 28 in Chantilly, VA)...At first I thought it might be something transmitting in the area that was causing it...that's when I mentioned it to Warrenton Toyota. They told me I was nuts...I called another Toyota dealer, they were well aware of the issue and said they had received software from corp to fix the issue. It was firmware that has something to do with the Bluetooth connection with your cell phone...But, as I said before all is good not. They also told me that if I have any other issues like this, un-find my phone and re-connect it to the Head system by way of Bluetooth and it should fix the issue.

I got mine 12/27/15 and just hit the 4400 mile mark.............so I am kinda wondering what the time frame is for these funky things. I am really curious on the trans fluid and other things too (I have been making notes as I see potential issues shared). Knowing how I get...........if they do NOT wish to check things, I will nag them until they do it, or give me an extended warranty on ALL parts.........for NO CHARGE.

Hah! I love the truck but the found issues are a bit off-putting to some. I don't panic, I came from older vehicles..........at least this one is safer!

I've had mine do this a couple times or so. Then the audio just went out. We thought it was an amp. Toyota thought the same. They ordered an amp, took 3+ weeks, then that didn't fix it. They ripped a new truck apart and apparently today it's fixed. We shall see. If it screws up again I'm trading this pos in. I made a thread about my speakers.
