What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I sold it when I was done with the bumper to my previous employer to bend snowmaking pipe. I wonder if they have used it or just kept using elbows and threading the ends of the pipe.

If I remember correctly on mine there is a way to pull it by reaching into the ashtray and pressing up on the roof of it.

 

There's a little metal flap at the top, that is spring loaded, that holds it in place.

Seems like you need to push the ashtray in a bit, then push down on that metal flap while pulling it out at the same time.

 

I was trying to find a way to get the middle bolt in my front skid plate. Once the skid plate is put in place there is no way to get the nut on the bolt.
So this is what I decided to do, I took a piece of flat bar 3/4 x 1/4 drilled and tapped three holes. I can place this above the holes in my bumper and run the bolts through the skid plate and bumper into the flat bar.

 

thinking about doing this mod. I just don't understand why this mod increase the engine efficiency. Addind a hole in the engine bay doesen't allow hot air going to combustion chamber? Or is it there is just more air going through. Any engineer here ? hahaha

 

I like that idea! I had a similar issue that will be solved by welding the nuts in place.

 

30k miles in 2 years on cheap tires is good right? Tires cost me $500 brand new. Might do it again

 

Depends on how they did offroad. I base my tire choices highly on how they are aired down now.

 

Idk. A set of KM2s would last that long at least.

 

Tires have been great in snow, mud, dirt, and rocks... they really surprised me. I expected the sidewalls to get cut easily...nope........this last trip they sucked, but they are at the end of there life now

 

Thats my next set of tires if i don't go with these cheap shits

MTRs will not last very long. Be lucky to get 30k out of them i think.

Darn....these were only 500 mounted and balanced and have around 30k miles so far ...hmmmm

 

MTR's will be my tire when the truck retires from DD status. Till then I'm giving the ST MAXX's a shot.

 

Pretty much only heard good things about the ST Maxx, seems like a good tire.

 

Pretty much what i tell everyone. MTRs are amazing and my first choice for an offroad tire. But due to how they wear, not recommended for a weekend warrior/DD truck IMO. KM2 is better for that or an AT tire like the Coopers or KO2 or the new Falken looks nice.

if its a dedicated rig. MTRs all the way.
