All this house talk and I am still renting in the Peninsula. SMH... Do plan on getting one in a few years though. Wife and I do not want to commute and we both work in SSF, so it will have to be a small house. Just hope it has a decent driveway for 2 LOL. Gotta start saving for that down!!!

We both work different shifts. Me from 0430-1300, and she works banker hours 0900-1800, so the commute for her would be terrible. She rented out in Vallejo before we got together, and she said after that commute, she NEVER wants to commute again LOL. plus we figure wear & tear on our cars/trucks plus toll, it might be best to sacrifice the bigger home. Plus once we have our first kid, my parents are in DC and can help when needed LOL. Its just insane to see all the these houses around me go for above asking price, and some even being paid in CASH.

I've got my early veggies in, peppers, tomatoes, snap peas and basil, cilantro, thyme etc.

But not using any hay bales... This is new to me...

If you have kids or even consider that kids might be a possibility in the future, it pays to look at the performance of your local schools when buying a home. We live in an school district that "does not achieve CA goal". This has become an expensive problem. Our commutes are short, though.

@black_cukui i hear ya brah! Definitely not a commute i would wanna be in, especially hwy 4! and i know how much help the parents can be when it comes to babysitting, even that costs and arm and a leg! Atleast 1k/mnth. hopefully this market comes down soon...

More shit then I ever planned on doing
Same happend to me. We moved to Walnut Creek from Oakland because of schools and ended up putting our kids in private school anyway so yes schools are a big part of where you plan on buying.

That's our problem right now, my daughter is going into kindergarten next year and we are trying to find her a good school to go to. It's been a pain though since some of the more affordable houses are obviously in the lesser school districts.

We failed to consider that when we bought. Then, by the time we looked at moving, private school pencilled out to be about the same monthly money as an equivalent house in a better district.
