I had a really funny experience shopping for a new truck last night... I was torn between a TACO or an F-150. While I was at the ford dealer the salesmen was sitting in front of me and I was telling him how I was torn between the two and another salesman was listening and said how he had to give a guy such a big trade in value of a taco that had 160K on it and was 6 years old... he said I cant believe we had to give him 16,000 for it! He said "man those trucks are really built!" After he said that, the head guy sitting in a tower in the show room came down and said to the sales man "John! Can I talk to you for a minute please!" Right then and there I made up my mind and said "ill let you know in a few days..." Tomorrow I am going to be placing my order for my new TRD OR 4X4 LB TACO in RED! I went home and told my wife and she said "What an IDIOT!" Kind of what I thought... I bet he got an ear full from the PIT BOSS!

My last truck was an 05 TRD Sport. When I was looking into getting another truck recently, I decided to look at some used 2nd gen trucks since I liked my 05. Once I saw how much people were asking for them, it was a no-brainer to just buy new. BTW- I was only able to keep my 05 for 18 months, but when I sold it with 11,000 miles on it, I got $1,500 less than I originally paid OTD.

I think that guy "after being fired from the ford dealership" should go work for toyota.

Losing a customer always sucks, but here's hoping you don't get one of the problematic 2016s that many are getting.

Toyota's resale is great, especially when Toyota pays you 1.5x vehicle value because it's such a rusted, clapped out piece of crap that you can't drive it. :woot:

Word. I was originally going to buy a 03/04, but they were all $10K+. Just figured to buy a new one?! 2nd Gens were $20K+ (with the options body style I wanted)

Unfortunately they don't seem to do that in all states ... but cool deal if you're lucky enough

F150 is a great truck. I love mine haven't had really had many issues. Small stuff but on a forum they would probably be "huge" problems. Every manufacture has problems. I have owned a Tacoma and other Toyotas as well. Only thing I dislike about the f150 is they don't hold value. Same with Chevy and dodge. You can get great deals on them though and it's hard to pass up. Toyota never budges on the price and they don't offer dealership employees and employee plans. Ford and GM do and it amounts to huge savings. Of course almost anyone can get GM Emp pricing. They basically give those things away
