    Hey guys,

So my 2014 DCB recently started acting up. When i have no head lights on or when i have my running lights on and hit the breaks my dash and head unit dim out. As well as when i have my left (right blinker works fine, nothing blinks) blinker on the dash and head unit flash comingled with the arrow.

When i have headlights on everythig works fine, no dimming and blinkers work good. My hitch is factory installed i know curt trailers can make this happen. Bulbs looks fine also. Any help is appreciated. The dealership said they need my truck for a few days to check the entire system out lol

Has anything been installed lately, or been under the dash for any reason? The dimming lights when you hit the brake almost sounds like the mechanism might be scraping a wire and could be rubbed through the insulation. An intermittent short, not solid enough to pop the fuse though.

What Larzzz said. I would start with your last electrical mod, and reverse engineer it from there

The last thing i did was add the fogs. I was pre wired though so i just added the push button and fog lights. Also i did the anytime running lights mod but already disconnected that and same problem. Its driving me crazy how the left blinker and brake make everything crazy but the right blinker is fine. I did those mods months ago and it all of a sudden started yesterday.

I ran into a similar problem on an older toyota. When you turned on the turn signals to turn right the dash lights flashed. Also both tail lights flashed. It was a bad bulb in the right front light. Buy some new bulbs and start switching them out and check to see if the problem goes away. The bulb that was bad looked fine, it had a bad ground in the bulb itself.

Changing the light bulbs didnt help. Anyway the issue could be cause by a bad flasher?

A bad flasher will usually just cause them to stop blinking. What you're describing sounds like a bad ground. Maybe a bad stalk. Got any friends with tacos that you can swap stalks with?

Be sure to mention the changes you made - fog lights/anytime light mod. As was mentioned above - reverse what you've done. This is not a warranty issue. This is a self inflicted wound.

Have you smashed the trailer harness plug?

Already disconnected the DTRL mod. And as for the trailer harness plug i never use it. I actually tried hooking up a trailer to the truck yesterday to see if the lights would work and to make sure it was getting power but the trailer lights never turned on..

This is what you should have done first.

Press them to give you a loaner if they keep it overnight...

Hi, I'm having the same problem with a 2005 Tacoma Prerunner. I changed a few bulbs and cleaned one ground by the headlights. No luck so I made an appointment for Tuesday. I'll let you know what they find.

Maybe not the case here, but something to think about.

All kinds of strange things can happen when the wrong bulb it used. Some bulbs are single filament; other are dual and some have more than 2.

Many bulbs look the same and will fit, but not necessarily be correct for the circuit. Best to double check owners manual for proper bulb.

Ok cool thank you. I find it wierd how the right tailight blinks with the left turn signal on also so going to the dealer tomorrow since they never called me back this week. They should have a better idea what it is. The bulbs seem fine, fuses are good, they gotta be able to figure it out.

Well, took my truck to the dealer and it was the trailer wiring harness. It cost $190.00 but no more issues.

Just got my truck back after dropping it off monday... The report says that they tested the battery and alternator and all was ok. The only thing they noticed was corrosion by the trailer wiring harness. Thats all the report says theres nothing about changing anything or replacing. It didnt cost me anything and the problem is resolved now. I find it wierd that after having the truck for 4 days, the problems resolved however they didnt have to do anything. But problem is fixed thanks for everyones suggestions.
