I thought I would add a little humor to this thread at this point, but still haven't gotten my leaf spring recall notice, even though a remedy has been available for 2 months.

Why don't you have the seller take care of this? They are the current owner. BTW my 06' just had the frame inspected (and passed) a few weeks ago. 10 Wisconsin winters.
    Yes, the deadline is 3/31/16.

I got the leaf spring recall letter over a year ago. I asked about a fix when I dropped off my truck for the frame inspection. And I was told nothing available yet.

Thats unbelievable, grew up in milwaukee most of my life and have seen so many cars die due to the salt there. My 05 tacoma is a wyoming/colorado/washington whore and in these stats mag chloride is what they use and it failed with all ive found is surface rust but havent checked the vertical weld where everyone is saying is the reason for this recall. Wisco's winters are far more bruta thoughl. Just doesnt add up for me that u wouldnt get a new frame.

I didn't say it passed. The dealer did. So if it fails they are on the hook for certifying the vehicle as safe.
Not every frame inspected in the rust belt fails. Just alot do.:goingcrazy:
They did say they're finding more Tundra failures than Tacoma.
I was hoping it would fail, damnit.:pout:

Dammit. Getting the spray job done. Kind of wish I just let the frame rust away for the past 6 years. I've spent hundreds of $ on undercoating only to be stuck with an 11 year old frame now while others are getting brand new frames. Such is life. :sadviolin:

So, I brought my truck in for the 3rd time to have the spray done properly. They put it on the hoist and there were still spots with no coating, areas they hadn't cleaned and chunks where the coating clung to rust and fell off. I opened a file with Toyota so hopefully they will get it fixed. Am I being unreasonable? I just want it done properly, I'm not asking for a new frame if it doesn't need one (although I don't really trust that they checked it at all). I've been reasonable to this point and given them 3 chances to fix their mistake. Comments??

Thats just it, im looking at peoples pictures of frames and comparing them to mine. Feels like i just won the lottery with just surface rust, cant find one damn hole in this thing. Sorry for your loss and its to late now but id say drive out west and have them look at it. They will fail it cause they have never seen a truck with true salt up its ass. Sounds like a bunch of salty turds at the wisco stealership if you ask me

From the stories on here and elsewhere it sounds like most dealership techs are able to change out a frame in 2-3 days. With Toyota (Dana Corp.) paying for everything and reimbursing the dealerships, you would think the dealerships would be chomping at the bit to fail a frame and change it out. Sitting on a Gold Mine, is the first thing I thought. Dealerships have very good reasons to fail a questionable frame and no good reason to pass a "iffy" frame.

The dealership has to have it approved by Toyota to fix them. They can't just fail them and replace them themselves. That is what I am dealing with right now. The dealership failed mine and I have a hole in the frame. Toyota won't agree to fix it because I had it inspected last year and it passed.
