That is hilarious , 2016 trucks will rust in worse way, and there is no way to weld any support (fix it), aaaaand there will be no buyback... or frame replacement. Talking about out of luck.
Can't even part out (nobody will want minivan engine attached to busted transmission powering transfer case with stripped gears spinning badly installed ring&pinion)
OP found surface rust, clean and paint...

 

I did and im still hung like an elephant dont worry. But really the Op doesnt need u being a tool.

 

You're saying those picture the OP posted is surface rust he can merely clean and paint? You really are dense as a bag of bricks.

BlueT, I had an 85 Toyota Pickup for 28 years without an ounce of rust on my frame, know why? Living in SoCal just as I do now. So how's that orange paint coming along? You got any bondo to go with that paint?

 

Call Toyota 800-331-4331. I spoke to them about the frame corrosion before. The warranty extension is 15 years from date of first use (2016-2002 = 14 years). You should be able to get your frame replaced.

OP got a 1st gen, and how would you figure a 3rd gen would be rusting out already?

 

Yeah, I called and they gave me a case number and will have a "case master" call me back tomorrow.

 

Hopefully you get some resolution OP and apologize if I came off like an ass.

 

Thanks. Ill push like hell to get it resolved. My truck was never issued a recall so hopefully that'll actually be in my favor. I feel as if the truck was issued a recall and nothing was done about it, it would be owner negligence. Guess I'll find out tomorrow

 

Do a search about "first gen frame recalls" on here. There are a ton of informative threads regarding what others have done and dealt with.

 

After doing a bit of reading, I actually have hope. Appears mine is a good candidate.


Hate it though. Truck drives awesome how it right now. No way it's the same when it's back together

 

There's no recall but just a warranty extension. They should honor the 15 year warranty.

 

I hope they do.

Bought the carfax on my truck today and found it was completely clean, was extremely pleased and ready to start working on the truck.... And now this. Really disappointed in myself for not seeing that before I bought it
