I have a 2004 5-lug with a manual transmission and today is the first time I've had any problems with it. I don't really know anything about transmissions and what could be wrong about the problem even being in the transmission so any input is appreciated. Right now I can accelerate through 1st gear fine but when I shift from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd the truck starts shaking and it feels like its bogging down and wants to throw itself out of gear. Most of the time it stops after a second or two and smooths out but a few times it has lasted more than 5 seconds. Now its starting to do the same thing in 4th gear and I'm worried that if I drive it any farther than I would need to get it to the shop that I'm going to make the problem a lot worse. Any ideas?

Well I haven't gotten any replies to this but I took it to the shop today and the guy drove it and said he thinks it's an electrical problem. Does this make sense to anybody? He said it could be a wire breaking down or something and thats why it shakes and loses power when under a load

almost 60,000. I've played in it some but to me I haven't done anything serious enough to cause the tranny to fail

He said it could be a spark plug or something electrical making a cylinder misfire. I guess if a cylinder misfires or stops firing while driving its kinda like trying to drive 20mph in 4th gear. It shakes because there's not enough power to turn that high of a gear

not sure how bad your shaking is but my truck started running real rough past couple weeks and finally pulled a p0303 code for a cylinder 3 misfire. my truck was still running... i just didnt want to take it out of 2nd gear. i was able to limb down to my friends shop where we threw 4 new plugs in. the plugs were pretty nasty, so 4 new champions and she's running great now.

    hope that helps

-- hows the bedliner on your bumpers holding up?? looks nice i think i might have to do that

I took it in today and they said the code was for a cylinder 3 misfire. The spark plug was cracked so they put in some new ones and it runs fine. They did charge $90 for labor which sounded kinda high.

The bedliners holding up good so far. No chips or anything and it hasn't flaked or anything and I did spray it off with the high pressure sprayers at a car wash.(that's what made the original paint start to peel)
