He did not mention the alignment. I will call back to get the answer. I agree that price should include the alignment.

Just talked to 4wheelparts in Va Beach. 5100's $189. Labor $360. Alignment $117. That is roughly $670 for an added 1" of lift in the front. Maybe I will just go with 17" x 8" wheels and spacers for the same money.

or if you are remotely handy, you could do the install yourself. It's actually super easy and can easily be accomplished with basic hand tools.. Will still need an alignment though.

Don't you need a spring compressor for this job. I am handy and have a garage full of tools. Just would prefer having install done at shop that can align it too. But not at nearly $700. Just never messed with struts. Have done nearly everything else to vehicles.

to many to list, check the build thread
the AAL is the biggest pain to install. EDIT: that is if you buy a kit with the coils pre installed on the shock. I have swapped my coil overs out twice now, the 2nd time was by myself and only took about 2 hours, my drivers side lower shock bolt was seized so i had to get crafty :D

Yeah, you will need a spring compressor, which you can rent if need be. When I do these installs, I usually just take the factory shocks to a local shop near me, and they charge me 50 bucks to do the coil swap.

I used the method that Josh showed me which involved using a floor jack to decompress the spring with the lower control arm which was much safer than trying to use a spring compressor. You can find a lot of videos on here of doing it that way and then you just have to pay for the alignment.

Thanks for the input. In no rush. Money is not really an issue but don't think the gain is worth the investment at this time. Biggest thing is I do not like the stock rims and would like meatier tires. Gonna get some local install quotes. Then will decide. Remember this is a 2 wheel drive truck so not looking for major geometry changes like ucl's and stuff. I can get the top level plates installed for a mere $100 but just wanted the potential adjustability of 5100's. Wheels are the last important mod to me. It's like an itch that I can't scratch. I say last mod but that is until I decide on head and fog lights. Don't want to go crazy until factory warranty is up.

You don't need spring compressor, if you have hydrolic one I would use it if not don't bother with conventional ones it will take too much time.
It is super easy to do it your self if you have tools and place, I've done at least 4 times this way with longer than stock coils. When you know how it's done, it takes literally 30min per side.
Look at this video how to

So I ordered the Bilstein Adjustable Lift kit from Toytec, with the springs pre-mounted and set to the first clip which they say is 1.5" lift. Aal for the rear.

Now I'm starting to wonder if this lift set-up will work for my 2016 access cab. I want about 2" of lift altogether, and putting 265/75/16 tires on. Would it have been a better idea to go with OME kit for what I want? I can still call and change my order...

EDIT: I went ahead and changed my order to the OME kit. Went with 90021 shocks, 885 coils, and Dakar leaf pack. I think the leaf pack will be great for heavier loads.

I did a lot with the inch and half block. Dropped it down to a single inch and it's not so bad. But yes it does the rear does hop a little in the back when going up ramps fast.

2016 Access Cab Trd Off Road
First time posting, been lurking for a while. I have a 2016 access cab trd off road, my first Toyota!
I have an allpro bed rack, tepui kukenam xl rugadized, and I carry a small bar-b-q, 20lb propane bottle, a couple folding chairs, a small chain saw, 5 gallons of water, axe, small folding table, etc. At times I will have my dirtbike on a carrier on the hitch from time to time. I know I'm getting heavy. Does anyone have any suggestions on a lift that will help with my xtra weight? I've read threads and have talked with my dealer. They say OME 886 with dakars, or allpro "pro" lift kit, which I'm expecting includes expedition springs. With the allpro lift I would get u-bolt flip, uca's and extended shocks and longer brake lines, timbren bump stops. There is a difference in price, but I feel I'm getting more in the allpro kit.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Anyone have any information on lifting a TRD Offroad 2WD about 3"? I hear just doing a spacer lift will be way less expensive such as the rough country 3" kit they offer. Or should I do a more expensive reservoir coil system for a better ride? I also cant find many options for my truck. Please any information or links or threads would be awesome!! Thank you!

I didn't know they made an Off-Road that wasn't 4x4. I'm just curious, what does the headliner console look like? The 4x4 is crowded with MTS and Crawl/locker.

Yes, they make a 2WD in offroad. I have the electronic package and so I have a sunroof. I live in South Florida, so not much need for a 4x4. The only thing I have is your typical lights and a sunglass holder up top.

Interesting. Thanks. You don't have any swamps or beaches to tear up?

No I don't actually. I mean if I go to the MX track there is some dirt there or if youre a construction worker you have sites to mess in, but South Florida is pretty un offroad if you know what I mean. sucks, but I still love my trucks. Wish I lived up north where I would need a 4x4 and do some sand duning somewhere, but oh well. Hope you have an awesome day man!

That's unfortunate. Sounds like it's time for a road trip! As far as 4x4, I've only gone a few places in my life that couldn't have been reached without it. It's all about tires and the driver. Same to you buddy.

    Broken Arrow , Ok

I had originally planned on 5100s, 887s, & Camburg uniball UCAs but after seeing these pics I'm kind worried. I was going to opt for the diff drop but even then, the outer tie rod looks pissed and doesn't look like much droop between the uca and the coil itself. I DO plan on off roading and I want the lift but I also want some sort of peace of mind while I'm on the trail miles from no where.

The good news is you don't need 4"s of lift. Stick with a 2" lift coilover from Toytec that's adjustable and you will have all you need.
