Another punch in the face from Toyota!! I took truck in for 10k service last week and director of service and I talked about vibration. He wanted to experiment on my trucks intake Plumbing. Told me he would call me back when part comes in. I called him an hour ago. He told me he was mistaken. The fix is for Tundra not Tacoma. Guess they have a smaller scale issue with this also. keep calling corporate!!!!

I did some more experimenting on the way home. Funny enough, I got rid of my old truck because of a driveline vibration issue and now I get a new vibration issue :D.

However, I don't think this one is driveline related. For me, the buzzing only happens when applying throttle to the engine. If i take my foot off the gas (but stay at the same RPM and speed), the buzzing stops. I feel the road through the steering wheel, which is fine, but the buzzing definitely goes away.

Correct, the symptoms occur mostly when the engine is under load and applying the gas. However, others including myself feel it in the steering wheel when the truck is decelerating (no foot on the gas). Are you only feeling it in your steering wheel and not your gas pedal?

With no foot on gas the buzzing either changes in frequency or goes away. It is hard at that point to discern what is due to "the buzz" or what is road vibration.

I feel vibration sometimes in my gas pedal but honestly I don't notice that enough to make note of it. Most cars I have driven, especially the one I had before this, have vibrated through the gas pedal a bit. I fully agree the steering wheel issue is not normal though, or if it is within design spec, then it was designed to a sh*t spec that needs to be modified by toyota.

Some vibration in the gas pedal is normal when you accelerate but shouldn't be this strong or consistent. The strength of the vibration varies from affected owners and personally, mine is to the point where it will number your leg on a long freeway trip.

As for the steering wheel, I rarely felt any vibration in my steering wheel so long as I had decent tires and they were all balanced properly. Btw, what RPM range are you experiencing the buzz/vibration in? Mine is now pretty much in the 1K-2500K range.

Dude that sucks, I was hoping your dealer was gonna have some good news. I believe the Tundra had a similar issue is ours but no clue on whether they found a fix.

Sent an email as well a week or so ago. Everyone having these issues needs to email them.

Personally, I never call, I email for the paper trail.

I'm another newbie here to this forum. I have read and have been watching this thread for about a week. It has me very concerned. I have a 2016 TRD OR 4x4 quad on order now. It is supposed to be delivered by the end of April or first of May. I know that it is being built at the Texas plant. This will be my 4th Tacoma. I never had any issues with the previous trucks. This is also the first one I had to actually "order" since there were none available in my region with the stuff I wanted. This is my question for you folks: Is it possible that the bugs and problems you all are experiencing have been worked out on the Tacoma's currently in production and Toyota is remaining quiet about it? In other words, they are not willing to own up to any flaws on the Tacoma's that first shipped and are sitting back and waiting on people to return to their respective dealers to have "their" issues addressed? For the life of me I can't understand why they are not all over this with the reputation they have and the loyalty of their customers. So, should I be concerned? Hold off? Thanks!

Just opened a case with customer care. They are going to send a rep to look at my truck. To get a call on Monday.

My humble 4 cylinder has not one of the issues people are complaining about on TW, and is getting better than EPA rated mpg. I am totally happy with it.

In answer to your question, I believe the chances of the problem already being worked out on vehicles currently in production are zero to none. Check out post #1080 in this thread in which the poster states that his vehicle built on March 11, 2016, has the problem. The answer to your second question is whether you should be concerned or hold off is obviously one that you will have to make, probably based mostly on how much you trust Toyota to solve this problem. Good luck!!

wow! better than "that's normal, just drive it more it'll go away" which is what
many of us, including myself got from the dealer.

I think people are underestimating the financial commitment and engineering due diligence required to address an issue like this. It doesn't happen overnight (overnight in this case being a few months) and Toyota can't make any claims about the issues until they have a fix ready. Even if it were a simple fix like changing engine mounts everything still needs to be tested, evaluated, etc... for this exact application.

True, except isn't it Toyota's stance to it's customers that this is just normal? Why fix what ain't broke?
I cancelled my 2016 order, no harm in waiting and seeing what happens in 2017.

Like I said, they won't admit there is an issue until they have a fix.

I reported the issue over the phone to Toyota last night. The person on the phone said he would double check to see if Toyota is aware of the problem and has something in the works.

Unfortunately he said he couldn't find anything in the system regarding vibration or buzzing in the steering wheel, so he does not believe they are currently working on it. (His words not mine) I got a case number and he said the best I could do at this point would be go to the dealer and have them try to isolate it (not going to do that).

I don't feel it in the gas pedal as much like some people are saying. I do feel it a little bit in the floor board/dead pedal and slightly in the seat if I put my hand on it.

Hopefully Toyota eventually acknowledges the issue. Unfortunately vibration issues only get worse....

I hope that everyone that cancels an order due to this issue relates their reason to both the dealer as well as to corporate so they realize they are losing sales because of it.
