I've had several 4 cylinders and they sounded pretty good with an aftermarket exhaust. An example was my 01 Ranger with a 2.3 liter engine. That's 2.3 liters in 4 cylinders, which is approx half a Mustang 4.6 with 8 cylinders. So, the pulse is about the same size with a higher cycle rate. I was told it sounded more like a full size truck than a comparable 3.0 6 cylinder with the same exhaust. I like my Taco quiet, but I would imagine a 2.7 might not sound too bad with a good exhaust system. That is unless the variable timing doesn't flatten out the exhaust pulse and make it drone.

I have owned plenty of 4cyl cars that sound good with an exhaust. I thought about doing an exhaust for this truck and after countless YouTube videos I think this slightly riced out civic I got sounds better lol

The best sounding car that I have ever owned was my MK3 GTI VR6.

Hey man. I can help you do a repair from the inside to help keep it from splitting more if you want. Unless you want it to split all the way to help convince yourself to just do a flatbed! Haha.
