5100's set at .85, resulted in a 1 inch lift and it drives and handles great.IMG_20160226_153601727_HDR.jpg

Apparently they (tech reps) are making assumptions. I was afraid to install when it appeared the spring would be more relaxed with the bilsteins. I wish I would have installed them now. I assume stock springs ? Are we talking about the same shock p/n F4-BE5-C477-T1 (old p/n 24-239370)

First post on Tacoma World! I contacted Bilstein, they will have the 3rd generation adjustable 5100's out this summer. There is a difference and they do not recommend using prior models. I installed 265/70/17 on my OR 4x4 with no problem. The 2016's are sitting better, but I will install the Bilsteins's at 1" when they available.

Who did you speak with at Bilstein? I was told the shocks were ok with the 3rd gen's. I have >1000 miles on them and very happy.

Technical support. They advised there is a difference in the valving and do not recommend the adjustable 5100's yet. I believe they will fit, however not sure about problems down the road for warranty.

What number did you call? I was told you must talk to distributors for tech support.

When I was getting quotes to have the Bilsteins installed, Tampa Off Road (813-304-2199 Brenda) contacted Bilstein to verify the fit. Their Technical Department did not recommend the install and stated the new version for the 3rd generation will be out summer of 2016.

Current Bilsteins installed on my 2016 set at .85. Rides perfectly fine and much better than stock. Not going to lose any sleep over minor valving adjustments that will have a minimal difference if any at all. They bolt up, fit and ride perfect.

I posted this in the lift thread the other day.
Called Eibach while in SF for business. They are remanufacturing the Pro truck sport. He could not tell me when they will be out but within 6 months. The caveat. I called Bilstien in NC just now to. Talk to the tech support and looked he has had a lot of calls. The 5100 is getting released in mid year. But only with different snap ring heights to accommodate the higher 16 springs. Also the load on the snap ring is fine according to him. He did say do not use the 2.5 setting. .85 is perfect and the 1.75 height is like 2.5 on the 2nd gens. Not sure about that I always ran 1.75 and never 2.5 and mine rode great. Looks like I am going with 5100s due to the better warranty. He said if they fail just say you have a 15 not 16. Has anyone else called and heard different?

Have you had any issues with the 5100 on your 16 Tacoma? I was going to get them installed but bilsten said they won't fit and void the warranty on them as they aren't compatible? They said the 5100's for the 2016 will be out in September 2016.

I called Bilsten and they said the 5100 are not compatible with the 16 Tacoma and September is when the 5100's will be released for the 16 Tacoma. What is going to be the difference and have you had any issues at all? He also said it would void the warranty on the shocks

1.75 guys. How is the alignment turning out? I am already level at around 21 inches 1/4 to 1/2 inch +/- around . I am have 5100's setting new and toytec add aleaf on the way. Also thinking 1/4 top plate spacers to make it 1.5 inches set at .85. I always ran 1.75 on my past 2 2nd gens. Want the 1-1.5 inch rake. I think 1.5 inch will keep me from buying uppers which I do not need. I wheeled with my last trucks as far or further with guys that had more.

Hey quick update I was doing more homework and called my dealership which has installed the 5100's on 2016 Tacoma's. Then I call Bilsten again today and got a different tech. He said yes they are making a 5100 for the 16 Tacoma and will be out in September. I asked if I would have any issues with the current 5100's all around and he said no. He said the new ones will be the exact same and same value timing. He said the only thing is the ring settings for adjusting will be slightly tweaked. He said just don't go to the highest setting as the 05-15 has the 4.0 liter engine and the 16 is the 3.5l and a litter lighter. He said at .85 or even 1.75 you will have no problems and they would be under warranty! So good news!

I installed just a set of 5100 on the front to level the truck super happy with the result and love the feel over the Hitachi stocks. Highly recommended without hesitation.

    Setting was at 0.85"
