The 6.0L did have a lot of reliability issues. Then people figured out how to bulletproof them, and they had 500k mile trucks with modern coil over IFS. Still, you will hear a lot of uninformed people lament over how shitty the 6.0L is, but these people usually either aren't that familiar with the engine and are just repeating what they've heard or they had a bad experience with a 6.0L that hadn't been bulletproofed. Anyways, just google, "6.0 powerstroke bulletproof" and I'm sure you can confirm. I think this kind of explains the mixed reviews between websites and "fanboys"

So far, I'm really happy with the truck.... even with the quirky shifting.

Love mine, but I have a MT and it seems a lot of the complaints are with the AT.

The 6.0L is shit. I see them constantly rolling down the road blowing blue smoke. I also know a guy who has owned one since new and it has been in the shop about 50 times. Currently its a 8000 pound paperweight. He took it to a shop so many times that they now have a policy that they will not work on the 6.0L and turned him away.

I have heard of " bulletproofing" and it's a joke. 10k it costs to do it properly from a reputable shop in Arizona.

I wonder why more people didn't go for that warranty voiding, emissions removing, out of pocket "fix".

In the end it's still a 10 head stud per bank turd that will blow headgaskets. That's why the new 6.7L is 18 per side like the Duramax has been since 2001...

Take some Eagle One Nevr-Dull to it, only takes a minute and it'll shine like brand new! you only have to use about a size of a quarter of the stuff, the can will last forever!

Love mine. Have the AT, but don't do alot of highway driving (which is where the complaints seem to stem from). I have done alot of offroading in the new one and it's just as bad-assed as my '07 V6 AT was, maybe moreso. I do hate that they make you buy mudflaps now.

Carbon black tailgate Tacoma insert. Red Tacoma dash insert. Winco Infrared reducing window tint. Predator steps.
Love the size, color, nimbleness, etc. But way too many issues for a brand new truck. Rattles, water leak, wind noise door, wind noise front end (resolved with gorilla tape). Never had issue with first yr model and did not expect to with a toyota. Love truck, disappointed with quality control. :-( have owned several other toyotas (wife has one) never had so many issues. Hopefully bad build, cuz if happened again would not come back to the brand.

If i could do it over i would have rather had the manual tranny! I do miss my 07 from time to time it had so much more throttle response with the cold air intake !

yes, however would have had the transmission checked and the zerks, and a re-torque on the u-bolts other than that perfectly happy with it. Oh and perhaps a manual transmission.

I'd buy again. I thought I'd avoid the buzzing steering wheel around 2k RPM with the manual transmission, but unfortunately I got it. Also have the small shudder when coming to a stop at about 16-20 mph.

Other than that, everything else is great. If Toyota can find a fix to those two issues, I'll keep it until the wheels fall off.

I feel like 15 out of a 100 people being dissatisfied is a relatively high number considering most people barely have a couple thousand miles on their truck. I wonder what the percentage will be in a few years.
