    So after talking to a couple people about it, I don't think a Deep cell is the way to go for me, as I don't see myself running stuff while the truck is off. The occasional radio here or there, but I'll be doing the big 3 upgrade with a 250A alternator, so power to the battery will not be an issue. Probably not going dual battery just yet, but setting up for it...

    Deep cycle batteries can be discharged more frequently. Normal starting batteries do not last long if discharged often. AGM is more vibration resistant and maintenance free, compared to normal flooded cell units.
    Starting battery should have more CCA's and house battery should have a higher amp hours rating. Those are the basics and I'm hardly an expert on the matter. That is pretty much the extent of my technical knowledge, but I have some real- life experience. Camping in 90° weather, with the fridge on max, killed the house battery in 2 days.

    I'm going to remove one of my 4 batteries because The camper came with 2- 145 watt panels. It's fucking ridiculous at the moment since I will hardly ever be camped in the same spot for more than 2 days.
    Two batteries was more than enough, and a 90 watt panel would have been fine for our needs with the Flippac. I will use my headlamp less often though.

    Personally, I would do 2 batteries before an alternator upgrade, especially if you camp, wheel, camp, wheel... The 140amp alternator is fine.

    You have great knowledge and that was well said. I'm not sure who told him that he shouldn't run deep cycle battery's but they have been doing this with RV's for years and the fridge alone to me makes sense to run a marine batt. Like you said if going to drain them down often then you will kill a reg car battery quick. I too know this from experience.

    Not for the amount of shit I'll be running lol. Dual lockers, ARB compressor, massive amounts of lighting. Radios. Would rather have enough power to an ok battery than inadequate power to a great battery. Besides, Big 3 upgrade, and then probably a dual battery shortly after.

    Come on now, we all know how indecisive I am. Next week I'll be back on the dual battery bandwagon :D

    For those that run a second battery with the truck off, look at the reserve capacity of the battery when deciding what to go with. This rating makes it easier to guess how long you can run accessories before the battery is below its minimum voltage

    Had the same thing happen when I sold my trd exhaust. Guy in SoCal wanted me to drive half way. Um no, I feel there is a difference between need to sell and would like to sell. People feel if you are selling something they have the upper hand.

    That 37 i think has been established as a typo from toyota. Its supposed to be 73 or something. I usually set mine for at least 80 and retorque a week or two later.
