ive been talking to rcv for some upgraded cvs for our trucks/long travel. nothing so far. they had one design but scrapped it due to failure. ive offered up my truck for r&d but no go so far.

id be interested in how the cvj axles hold up and in what terrain. i broke one cv on the top of backdoor in Johnson valley. a pretty hard rock trail.
i know that cvs are never going to be as strong as rockwells but i try to prove them wrong. much to my dismay.

If you say you have a harem at your place too, I just might propose.

I just got my originals rebuilt by cvj and I have another set I need to grab Monday for some spares(I hope to never use).
I've been running OERM branded and the boots tore in less than 12 months

Yeah I checked out RCV and a 1000 bucks for 1gen tundra CV's where a little to rich for my blood. I know 2nd gen is different from me. I'm surprised RCV didn't have a 2nd gen axle. Once I get a chance to push my axles I can give you a better idea with the durability of them.

having broke a few stockers money isnt the issue now. my issue its a strong cv. i can do crazy mods and run 930cvs or ujoints but at that point ill go center mounded 9 and custom a arms. not ready to pull that money trigger at this point in time. its still under somewhat of a warantee.

If the forces that would have broken a lesser CV are thwarted by stronger CVs, what breaks next?

From waaaaay back in the day, I know that indestructible Ujoints often resulted in more expensive stuff breaking so we just carried extra, cheap ujoints.

Honestly curious if the same principle applies to CVs.

Yeah going that route in the front. Something tells me you'll considering linking the rear too. That will be one hell of a beast to run.

this is true, beef up a weak link and the failure point moves up stream. my philosophy is, dont have weak links.
i built my crawler to not have any and it worked great. rockwells, 3" .250wall shafts, 1410 all around, 32spline ins and outs and a stout dual tcase set up.
ive generally been able to point and shoot my crawler.
theres a steep learning curve going from that wheeler to a tacoma. hence the few broken cv's. but i still want the strongest shit you can get. just so happens that for cvs the strongest, as of now, is a factory one. (which is why im interested in the cvj ones and been talking to rcv)

when i was talking to cvj they said they have an upgraded outer cv. polished and chromo and what not. until rcv starts making joints for these trucks thats my best be i guess. until i throw my dana 60 under there.

I asked about upgrades and Nancy at cvj said the silicone boots were the only optional upgrade at 50 bucks I decided against it on this set
