    Stock for now
PM TW member ilovemountains he just traded his 3GEN auto in for a MT.
At least that would give you an idea
Also there was a 3GEN TRD Sport for sale (that sold) in the classifieds, some dealer I think, pm that dude too.
Those two may be willing to answer your question rather than in the clear..
good luck YOLO, damn I traded in my 1 yr old Tundra because my dog Simon had anxiety attacks in it. :goingcrazy:

oh forgot, I would take all the extras, that is what I did with my truck, I even sold my new snow tire/wheels to a co-worker & put his worn tires/wheels on when I traded. Strip it!

Again I ask, is the truck broken and the transmission repaired/ replaced / diagnosed and Toyota is refusing to repair or is it functioning within spec but the OP is not happy with its performance and just wants to get rid of the truck?

Repaired / replaced or non-functioning transmission would have a bearing on trade in / resale value right? If there's nothing wrong with it and the OP is just dissatisfied with the truck then I would guess 2-5k depreciation to sell to a private buyer, maybe more of a hit as a trade in.

Do you need to know, or care?
I actually agree with this. It's your choice to move on if not happy with who you are dealing with. Personally, I like the dealership I'm dealing with and so far have addressed all my issues in a professional manner and the truck makes me smile. You OP on the other hand, have had none of your concerns addressed and would anger me as well. I feel the same way with Chrysler, who wouldn't address any of my concerns on an old Dodge Dakota I had years ago, so would never deal with them again period!

IMOP, there would have to be a significant difference in price between your truck and a new one off the lot for me to purchase it, even with the upgrades. It's because I'd prefer something new, if little difference meaning less than 5k. But that's me, I've seen newer Gen2's going for near new prices. If I were in your shoes I would put it up for 2-3k under new price on the private market and see if anybody takes the bait. Dealer's going to take you for an easy 5k, because they have to do the same.

It seems you've made up your mind in trading in the truck. Why turn it back into a 'I have problems with my truck thread'

Sell it and be done with it.

Take James' advice. The dealer will give you nothing for extras.

When I took delivery, I asked to see the list of what they checked as part of pre delivery inspection and saw that transmission fluid was not on the list. Told them regardless, I want it checked and I would pay the cost of any labor to have it done as an extra service. Truck was already getting the TPMS swapped over and new tires and wheels balanced as separate maintenance conditions to the purchase so I told them to add tranny fluid check also to my bill. Told them of my concerns so they even let me watch to ensure amount was correct. No problem at all having them do it as I was willing to pay for the extra service.

Level was correct from factory, they added a little to compensate what was lost during inspection and I left with peace of mind on my purchase and six weeks later, no problems with my transmission and shifting.

I'm going on 6,000 miles and haven't had any problems with the truck at all and absolutely love it. The ones on here with problems are usually the loudest which makes it seem like everyone is having the problems when out of all of the Tacomas sold it is very few. OP I agree with what everyone else has said sell the accessories aftermarket and I would try to sell the truck private party too and make most of your money back that way. Trading it in you're going to take a big hit.

Absolutely agree. Also the truck has been heavily reviewed by the media as well as the slew of amateur reviewers on youtube. No one has ever mentioned the problems mentioned here!

Yes and lots of people complain about things no one would ever notice. Someone stated that the plastic on the bottom of the steering wheel squeaks when he presses on it and others with little rattles here and there. It isn't a Ferrari and then people complain about it being a $34,00 truck (which is too expensive to them) but yet should still be absolutely perfect.

Why waste time asking people here? It's not going to help you when you go to a dealer. Just post it for sale for what you think is a fair price. Give it a week, then hit a few dealerships where you'd be interested in making a trade. People's opinion on the internet won't help you negotiate in Bumfuk, Timbuktu.

I haven't been following your posts. I don't know what you've tried so far. It seems like you've read lots of suggestions but haven't necessarily tried fixes (only guessing since you said the ECU hasn't been reset and you refuse to check your fluids). I'm not trying to wind you up or give you shit. I can't begin to imagine why you would take a ~$5000 loss - that only hurts you - to prove a point to Toyota. You aren't hurting Toyota by trading it in. They already sold you a truck. If you spent a hundred bucks you could get the transmission checked by a good mechanic. Or, go to a level parking lot and check the fluid yourself. Don't think you should have to do that? OK. Go through the hassle and spend thousands trading vehicles. I've read that members who disconnected then reconnected their battery have had great improvements in transmission performance as well after the break-in period. It all seems lame and it sucks that 2016's have so many problems popping up but if you loved your truck so much before and a very simple solution may exist, why not save yourself a ton of money and get the transmission problem sorted.

It's your cash if you want to throw it away. The guy that buys it will get the issue sorted out and wind up with a pretty good deal on a new Tacoma.

Trade value advice could have very easily been found on two websites: Nada.com and kbb.com. Us TW members aren't going to be chilling at whatever dealer he goes to negotiating for him.

Well said. Seems more logical to me to have a good mechanic check the fluids and add if necessary. Then disconnect the battery for 2 to 4 hours and see how it goes. Drive it for another 1000 miles and see if there are any improvements. Several people on this forum have done exactly that and have got positive results. Then again it is your money.

Not yet. That is part of the reason why. First year newly design vehicles tend to have problems. I am ordering a 2017. Hopefully by then many of these issues will be worked out. I have test drove two 2016 and they appear to be alright but I still feel a bit uneasy about purchasing a 2016. I can wait a bit longer
