I put a set of new "Rope Hooks" in the back so I can get much more usage out of the bed....Gas cans, Walmart bags and sooo much more.

They come in very handy. Do these require drilling and tapping. Is there a predetermined spot for them.

I got the "Rope Hooks" from my local dealer....2 Hooks and 4 Screws were $48.29...See pictures for part numbers on those...

I got 4 big washers 2" in diameter with a 3/8" hole in the center, 4 stainless metric nylon lock nuts to fit the Toyota screws and 8 smaller stainless washers from a local hardware store....Measured where I wanted the hooks (used painters tape and an ink pen) and just stepped up my drill size till I had the right size hole the screws would fit in...No tapping...I put 2 ss washers between the hook and the bed to match the look of the other OEM hooks and another ss washer between the nut and 2" washer on the underside.

I just centered them on the angled panel....There is no predetermined holes or markings, just eye it up and measure...(make sure they are straight up and down)....The hardest part is getting your arm up the inside of the quarter panel to put the big washer, smaller ss washer and lock nut on...

The original OEM hooks in the front bottom have only an oval backing plate that is about 1 1/2" x 3" or so...I think the larger washers I used are just as strong if not stronger, covering a bigger area so as not to crack and pull through.

No offense and that's cool and OEM looking but just not sure I could spend $48 on $7 worth of hardware just because it says Toyota on the bag.

I hear ya, they ain't cheap!.....But I didn't want it to look homemade in a $30,000+ truck either.......I'll probably spend another $50 and put another set up front....Those hooks are priceless for holding chainsaws to furniture to, well you name it!

    Mostly stuff I built.
Those loops are in the 1989-2004 truck beds so hunt your local pick n pull and grab a set for $5.00. Have three of them on each side of the flat bed on my 1985 Toyota to secure things. Strong as hell work great.

I had 6 of those hooks in the bed of my 1989 4x4 and 4 hooks in my 1997 4x4...now my 2016 only comes with 2....WTF?

Local junk yards told me people rebuild most of the wrecks...The salvaged hooks are few and far between.

Those things will secure just about anything.
