Picked up the bike today. The guy also through in the original owners manual, a seat covers which seems to be brand new, a new front wheel, and new rear tire. Has a pretty good dent in the expansion chamber and also loose some coolant when riding for a couple hours. he couldnt really find a leak. My dad mentioned maybe a head gasket? Looking at it the head doesn't seem to be leaking anything on the outside so idk. Im going to have to tear into it to figure it out.

Just asked at the dealer today.. new WR250R with street title is just over $7k out the door. Looks like in the future, Id think about a used 450 for around $5k

I am just in the beginning of searching. So now is not a great time to buy anyways, unless I find a crazy good deal. Good thing is, Im paying off my FZ later this month, and taking on a roommate, so the extra cashflow will be nice

In real news I'm having the hardest time deciding which exhaust to buy for the grom..

    I like the MNNTHBX underbody
    4226924_orig.jpg

Also really like the competition werkes exhaust for a side exit but wouldn't pay the $5xx for it.
    FB_IMG_1459093695840.jpg
And then there's the brocks performance which appears to have a larger header pipe in case I big bore eventually.

That's the whole point! It's whatever you want to do, it has so many options from stretched and slammed to big bore 2valve to big bore 4valve.
Ha. I can't help it, I like performance and building stuff. Plus the drz is done except suspension.
Not a fan of the dual tip side exit personally.
I'm thinking I want a low exhaust on it. I like the clean tail look.

    $0.99 :D

The price tag is what keeps me from that. I just don't think it's actually worth another $200 dollars compared to the others.

Full. Slip ons are useless IMO.

Could be a fun project. Head gaskets almost always leak into the cylinder. Coolant doesn't just disappear. Looks to be jetted a bit rich judging by the spooge line on the swingarm. If you have some money to spend on this bike you should pull the top end apart and see whats needed. It's going to be pretty hard to pop the dent out of that pipe with the freezer trick. I tried it at 10 below zero with a similar pipe/dent and it didn't work. Those aftermarket pipes are much thicker than the stockers. There are companies out there that can straighten that pipe out. It's a real crap shoot with older dirt bikes. But almost anything can be fixed if you're willing to sink the bucks into it. Good luck man.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. I will probably pull the head and see what needs to be done. Fix anything else that needs fixed, get it all cleaned up. The guy said he has never fouled a plug in it, and that's usually from a rich condition yes? Guy said I could send it to fmf and they will fix it. Know the cost of that? I will try the freezer thing first though.

Its a project but thats what I wanted. I think I got a ok deal for $600. It fires right up and runs good.

Probably needs new sprockets and chain, Any recommendations? Doing that, fix the kill switch, and get some wrap around hand guards will be the first things. Planning on racing the bike in hare scrambles at some point. Im new to the 2 stroke thing so im anxious to start learning!
