I would have ordered by now. At this point I will probably wait till 2017 (my schedule over the summer is not conductive to a distraction a new toy would bring). If they don't fix it, I dunno. I refuse to drive automatics, so my options are limited. Maybe new Frontier (now I think it can't come here soon enough) will be the ticket?

Unless it's strictly an assembly issue (I doubt it), we should see new part numbers once a fix is implemented. Somebody with access to current parts database could check that for us. Do we have members in Toyota dealer part departments?

Edmunds 2016 Toyota Tacoma long-term tester was given on March 16th a rather unflattering review. Their truck has under 4000 miles. The editor from Edmunds noted he could feel a vibration in the gas pedal from the engine. He also said that the transmission did a lot of hunting and downshifting to maintain speed. There are lots of places on Edmunds to add your comments I added one on there a month or so ago about the vibration.Everybody please hit up Edmunds comments about the vibration maybe they will do a article on it just a thought...

@Ben91z28 Thanks for finding some editorial evidence for the forum. I found the article and glad Edmund's senior editor pointed it out.

Thank you for your feedback. The more I think about my needs the more I'm leaning in the direction of a SR5 with the 4 cylinder. I called corporate today and they referred me back to the local dealership, specifically, the “Customer Relations Manager”. They said they had no knowledge of the problem; really?

At Stevinson West in Denver I had no pushback moving my deposit to a 4Runner. It was never a non-refundable deposit but they also know they won't have any issues moving a Taco. Loving my 'Runner!

I've been dealing with the same dealership through this whole ordeal and they know very well the deal with this issue on the '16 Tacoma. Smart move on the 4Runner!

They aren't going to acknowledge anything right now. That would hurt sales.

Just had my 2nd visit today with a separate dealer this time around and the tech confirmed on paper that the vibration is there. Not much, but further than I got last time.

He suspects a combination of the stiff motor mounts and engine timing in that RPM range. His best guess is that Toyota will need to provide a better dampening motor mount (via TSB) and remap the ECU (via software update). It's all conjecture at this point anyways.

They had me drive a brand new '16 SR5 V6 4x4 and and sure enough, the vibration was almost identical to mine. Very strong vibration in the gas pedal and steering wheel.

Just curious, when you get a response like that from the dealership (great to hear by the way!), are they communicating this to corporate as well or just sending you on your way?

Picked mine up today. If I hadn't read this thread I honestly wouldn't have thought twice about it. So that being said I definitely feel something in the rpm range. The only way to describe it is that it's not as smooth but it's nothing like others describe. Nothing felt in steering wheel. Like I said if I wasn't looking I wouldn't have even noticed.

I don't have the buzz; or at least don't think I do.
I was rocking out to some tunes, tapping on the lower steering wheel from behind.
Kind of makes a buzzy-rattle sound; touch the plastic on the steering wheel and it goes away.
    Who knows...
Just made me think of this thread.

I'm not sure, the dealer basically sent me on my way but was much more thorough on the inspection than the last dealer. I didn't get any indication that the dealer will be sending anything to corporate. The asst service manager did tell me to open up a case number with Customer Care, which I told him I did already.

I've already accepted that this is going to be a long process. I was satisfied with at least having the issue confirmed on paper by the dealer and tech who drove it.

Regardless, I think its really important that affected customers put forth the quick effort to report this via Customer Care or else no action will be taken.

Well that's it for me folks. I've delt with this issue long enough, along with all the other quality control issues this Tacoma has had. I was hoping to give it until the new Ridgeline came out but I can't wait any longer. This is my first truck and Toyota, I was hoping Toyota still produced reliable quality products but after this experience I don't think I'll ever purchase one of their products again. I came over from a 2013 Acura RDX, and I think I will be going back to a 2017 RDX. It's been fun fellas. Good luck @DRBANE and @Doobiewah.

Please let Toyota Corporate know what you've decided to do and why.

Stay on their a$$! I had a similar issue with a new Harley Dyna Lowrider I bought some years back (2005). After much back and forth a regional service manager finally rode it and concluded that there was definitely an issue with excessive vibration. The dealer didn't want to do much about it and his response was "that's normal." Harley (corporate) then offered a new engine (turns out the flywheel was out of balance not the motor mounts like in a previous post) and if I didn't like it after the new engine, I could trade it for an '06 less the taxes I paid on the '05. After the new engine was installed it did much better and I elected just to keep it as the '06 had just come out with a new 6 spd. transmission which was causing issues as well. In this case Harley-Davidson (not the dealer) stood up for the customer. Maybe Toyota will do the same for you. Is there a "lemon law" in your state? Get your state attorney general (or however handles consumer complaints) involved. Toyota does not like negative publicity.

Just want to add an update and another data point for people considering the truck.

~850 miles in now. Noticed small vibes on day 1, but now it is more pronounced. Feel it more in floor now and at all locations on steering wheel. Intensity has increased, now after my typical highway drive to and from work, I have the tingling/numbing in my hands and feet. Same as if I were to hold a Dremel tool on for a few minutes and then turn it off and set it down.

I will update toyota corporate again when I get a chance....

Sucks, if this wasn't present I'd say I had a perfect truck!

Also, (sorry if it has been stated, haven't read the whole thread) I was on a stretch where I had it in 4th gear at 40mph and the vibration was there at 2k rpm, but it was pulsing. In a slow smooth wave about 1 or 2 seconds between peaks.

Anyone else get a similar experience in that condition?

Yeah I feel even worse for the people that can't adequately get out of the bad rpm range for the short term, at least with the M/T there's some relief. And thankfully no dash rattles yet like some of the auto guys....
