What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Installed LED dome, map, vanity and license plate lights. Really happy with the output now, could actually find a lost French fry if I had to.

Kept out the reverse lights from advice on here.

Also blew a fuse in the process. Not sure why, but now know more about fuses and their locations in my truck.

 

What's the deal with the reverse lights ?

 

You mean I've been bitching about that friggin mirror for 18 months for no reason? Wtf.

 

Yea. Lol. Move it up while keeping the mirror facing the same direction, takes some force. I was about to remove mine till i read about it, my system in my s10 knocked my rear view off so i actually got quite used to no mirror lol

 

Is it the same thing on the '14?

Read they kicked out very little light, much less than before. So for reversing at night with the backup camera its less than ideal.

 

Mine work wonders. You have to get the LEDs with projectors built in though. 99 cent jobs won't work

I bought that 'super bright led' bundle, so its just what I was given.. But looking at the bottom of the page I do see those JDM ASTAR 800 reverse lights. Ill research further, because having nice bright reverse lights would be nice backing up.

 

Those Jdm's are even brighter than mine @500 lumens. Spend the dough. You won't be disappointed ( just make damn sure they have projectors)

Easy peasy if you use the template. Took me 20 minutes. Remove both tail lights, tape the templates in place, center punch the holes, drill, debur and install.

 

I have the philips 921 bulbs shown down yonder and theyre pretty bright

 

Removed front flaps. No more rubbing.

 

Just installed it. I'll be honest and admit I might have used the wrong template the first time. The install instructions I downloaded had two templates. One that said large trucks and one that said small/medium trucks. To me the Tacoma is a small/medium truck. So I used that, center punched, drilled and installed. Sat "funny" to me. Meaning not straight and a little low and angled. At that point I said fuck it, let me try the large truck template. Did the same and bam. Like the way it sits and looks. Now I have a few "extra" holes. FML. Any way to patch them up?

 

speaking of rev lights, would it be the rev switch on tranny that is causing rev to alternate from bright to dim? i can move stick in and out rev to make them bright again but then they dim out while backing. i thought they had gone off but left in rev with motor off to chk it out and they were super dim. does same thing with diff sets of bulbs. philips 921 in it currently.

 

patch the extra holes with a bottle opener. take tailight out and bolt it on.

 

LOL! Not a bad idea but I don't think that would patch them all up. They offset a bit. Should have taken a pic of that but had to run in to help the Mrs with the little ones.

 

You could always weld em up. Use copper backing ( or welding spoon ) and fill them. Grind them flat and paint
