By "hang/overrun" do you mean the RPM stays up for a short time when you first lift off the throttle?
If so, then the answer is yes. And it seems to be more pronounced the higher you rev the engine.

Remove the fill plug on the side of the transmission, fluid should be at the level of the fill plug. If you check it when hot oil will probably run out. Transfer case and differentials are checked the same way.

Thanks! Where exactly is this located. Sorry kinda a newb. I only want to check it because all of a sudden it's shifting slightly harder after about 5k miles. Who knows maybe it's just me but seems to shift a bit harder from 2nd to 3rd mostly.

So I finally decided my next truck will be a taco. What I am reading on the six speed auto I'm not too enthusiastic about buying an automatic. I want this truck to last me 300,000 miles. I figure the best way to get a taco to 300 K without really replacing anything major is a 6MT.

What kind of wait time should I expect if I order the truck I want? It is very obvious to me that I won't be able to find one on the lot the way I want it ( Trd off-road in quicksand and with technology package, V6 tow package, floor mats, tonneau cover). I actually want to take delivery around September anyway, so I might as well order it the way I want.

I just got back from a test drive of a DCSB TRD O/R, but it had the auto trans. I have to say that a person would have to have a pretty low standard to think that was acceptable. The constant shifting and hunting was awful. They said 8-12 weeks to order and build a manual trans version. I wonder why Toyota didn't just go to a CVT trans instead of the slushbox that they have now.

Just bought a 2016 trd sport with MT. It seems to turn a lot of rpms when in 6th and going down the highway. At 75 mph I'm around 2600rpm? I would think it should be around 2200. My first Tacoma ever but always wanted one and finally got one.

If 6th were geared any lower it'd be practically unusable. As it stands in hill country I hardly ever use it as I'd have to shift in and out so often. Still great gas mileage with how it's geared, this engine likes RPMs.

Curious to see if any of you drove the auto and the manual back to back?

I'm on my second tank of gas and the display says I'm averaging 19mpg. Will it get better with time?

Makes no since that they would run the throttle even more then needed for emissions....

Depends on what you're driving. I've got about 18 mpg average over 4000 miles and that's pretty great for the mixture I drive.

The new trans will "learn" your driving habits. It takes time, but the gear hunting will decrease

Is there really evidence for the statement? Or is it just wishful thinking? At this point, just six months into production, we only have anecdotes to rely on, but the negative-to-positive anecdotal ratio seems to be 5:1.

I do a secondary road Sunday drive/mileage run once in a while to see how good it can get. Oh and the scenery isn't bad either (Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia) lol.
Now, to get this result you have to stay below 2000 RPM and granny it - less than 55mph in sixth:

    Mileage (3).jpg
So, that's a little over 26mpg! Of course, on my daily commute I'm in the 19-20mpg range.
