so 2day i took my 97 tacoma to a toyota dealership to check for frame rust, I had got a letter n the mail for it a couple weeks ago, but 2day i finally had a chance to check it out. When i went my buddy went with me with his 00' Tacoma SR5 TRD V6 5speed, when they checked for frame rust mine passed and his failed, and he's bout to get a $18,000 check n bout 10 days, and as much I hate my truck right now, I wished it didnt pass. It has no air conditioning, the f%$#% throw out barren in my transmission squells when I let off the clutch, its slow as hell, and clicks while I'm driving. And I aint got no money to fix all this s&#@, I hate my truck, I wish it failed! at least I would have money to get something nicer!

You just got your hopes up too high:( I feel ya but hate is an awful strong word to use towards a truck that, judging by all the mods you put on it, at least met and possibly even exceeded the high expectations you've had of it! You know how much work it takes just to get those larger tires to rolling? I had a hell of a battle with myself just adding the camper shell cause of its extra weight-but I figured the aerodynamics it has offset that anyway...and I have a V6! IMO you have a truck a whole lot of guys would love to have. You just need to gain some fresh appreciation for it:)

i swear, if mine was a V6 I would love it! but its got the 2.7, and it has a hard time pulling the tires, so its slow as crap, and it pisses me off, but if i take the lift and tires off, my truck will look dorky as hell

I see what you are saying....but check this out; you have a truck-not a car. Having said that, you added a group of mods that are designed to "enhance" its trucklike functions....in other words make it even MORE of a truck-see what I'm saying? So in certain cases, an owner has to make allowances in his own mind that it IS actually a truck and I shouldn't expect the same level of performance with addons as a stock truck w/a 2.7. Bottom line, your truck may be a lil slow going but the way you set it up it is a supreme offroader for sure! It's this for that:)

Even though Toyota didn't buy you out, remember that they have given you a 15 year frame warrantee, so you still have time for the frame to fail and then get your buy-out. All is not lost, in fact you stll got help from Toyota.

If you hate the truck, sell it. I would consider this to be a quite obvious move.

I would sell it, but i wouldnt get what i want for it, its worth 6,000 blue book, and want somewhere around 7500 to 8000, jus because of all the mods that are done to it, and plus Im a little attached to it and if I had the money to get the supercharger, idk if my engine would hold up wit it, it has 160,000 miles on it,

    Seriously.

Part out the after market stuff, convert to stock, sell it at KBB and be done with it.

You hate your truck but yet you're attached to it....

Sounds like you need some serious psychiatric counseling.:p:p

But yeah, I know what you mean. I have a built Jeep that we no longer use much. It's worth tons of money in time & mods to me but wouldn't be worth chit to sell it. We could bring it back to stock and part it out but that's a lot of time. I just finished parting out a totaled Jeep I had from 5 years ago, And even after you part out the goodies - you're not quarenteed to get KBB for 'em.

First- How can you ever hate a tacoma!?!?

Second- if you dont like the performance, like everyone else said, take the aftermarket stuff off, sell the truck as "stock" and post the aftermarket stuff on TW.
