Cleaning day today, my Mil buddies are always yelling at me because I don't clean my firearms every time I shoot so I decided today that while I had free time I would clean some up.

Lol... My brother has a gen 2 19 with well over 25,000 rounds and I know for a fact it most likely has been cleaned once as I did it.....

I was talking with a Glock rep and a local glock range day sales event and they have a Glock at the factory in Ga with over 250,000 rounds and all they have done is change the barrel at 200,000 rounds.....

I always like hearing how different people take care of their guns. Me...pistolsi shoot often get cleaned maybe once every 500 rounds or so. (which is approx once a year for a lot of them). Guns I might shoot once a year or that mean a lot to me (ie gifts from dad) get cleaned after shooting. Rifles like my AR's and bolt guns I run a few patches and a brush through when accuracy starts getting funky (between 250-500 rounds) and only clean clean them when i feel like it.

My "duty" guns (carry and night stand) get cleaned only before a range trip so i can foul them up a bit after cleaning.

But im like JimBeam for the most part....if it cant handle carbon build up over 1k rounds Im not buying it unless its as a collectors item

I usually don't clean my firearms except my M&P which is my equivalent of a "duty gun" (EDC/tractor gun) so I clean it after I've been bush hogging because the dust usually turns the gun a brown color (Plays hell on the inside of my Safariland holster as well).
But this Mil buddy will ask me every time he sees me if I have cleaned my guns yet, and if he's at my house he will check and see if it's still dirty, bugs the crap out of me so I finally gave in.

If guns are like cars...if i had my FJ40 or Shelby Gt500 they would be cleaned after every trip. But since they are a tacoma and a focus they get cleaned every 6 months or so lol. SO like my guns, the collectors and dont get shot much get cleaned and my normal guns only so often :)
