Removing seats/storage in '06 Access Cab

Hi. Does anyone have any ideas about removing the hokey seats/storage setup in an '06 Tacoma Access Cab? I could use the space a lot more productively for locking tooboxes that actually have some capacity, with a level deck covering them and any remaining space behind the seats.

WErd... At least the 08's folded flat, And didn't have that stupid center console back there. I made sure to write that up in the Toyota survey.

 

+1. Pretty simple removal.

 

I haven't pulled it all apart to see, but I believe there's a steel framing bulkhead in the front of the seat/storage area thingie. Maybe the solution is to remove the seat and the storage bucket, mount tool boxes directly to the floor forward of that, and then build a deck with flip-up sections on top so you have a level area back there with easy access to the present under-seat storage area and to the toolboxes.

Not sure what the other year's versions of this whole setup are, but I think the version in the '06 Tacoma Access Cab could have been better thought out.

 

They changed the rear of the Access cab?
