Never thought about. The driver's door is the only one with a keyhole, on my truck anyways.

The drivers side has a key hole. My tacoma came with a valet key to bypass the remote unlock/engine immobilizer.

my buddy is learning this the hard way with his new dodge.

He is out of town and lost his key. Its one of the electrical types where you don't insert it at all, just have to be in proximity. To deal with this he now has to get his truck towed to the dealership and then they will be able to program him a new one.

key still works on driver's door - for the first few weeks with the new truck I didn't even carry the magic button. Then it got cold and I started carrying my keys in jacket pockets so don't mind the extra bulk of that fat lump of plastic. When it's dark and 34 degrees and pissing frozen snot, it is nice to be able to hit the button while walking to the car and jump right in, but once it warms up again I'll prolly hang the electronic opener on a hook in the kitchen and go old-school for the warm months.

BTW two quick key turns opens all doors, just like on older cars, and if you leave your keys in the ignition and try to lock with the inside door button, it won't. Nicely thought out, these new trucks, but you still don't need the electronic box at all if you don't like it...

Now i haven't tried this yet, but it was published that this should work.

If you lock your keys in your veh, and you have your cell phone. It states that you should be able to call where ever your spare set is ( ex.home ) and with you right next to your veh, the person with the spare set should be able to push the spare transmitter button next to their phone, and the signal should be able to go through your cell phone and unlock your veh.

Like i said i havent tried it yet, but would love to here from anyone willing to try and see if it really works

    Quote:
Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock you keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on THEIR CELL phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the cell phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your spare set to you, or paying to have the car unlocked. Distance is no object. You could be hundred of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other remote and a cell phone, you can unlock the doors/truck.

Wish I had known this a couple of weeks ago. I would have tried it when I locked my keys in.
