Idk how companies are anymore or I would suggest simply requesting you start in two weeks making it clear that its only a request so you can formally resign from your current company of 18 years was it? I know that if I WAS HIRING I would respect that a lot because it shows your professionalism and if for what ever reason you decide to leave my company I would expect the same thing. I know it's not how business runs and it's a shame and I don't know if even making the request would be viewed badly as I said I would respect the request even if I couldn't honor it and be blunt with you about it. What's everyone else's thoughts on that?

You are not wrong, but I am willing to bet GM doesn't give a shit. However, the temp agencies do everything they can to push you in to that spot immediately because they don't get paid until you do. So really, you need to tell the temp agency that isn't going to fly and you need to give notice because if your position doesn't go temp to hire, you need a plan B or at least look good on the resume for the next career. I personally wouldn't hire someone who doesn't give notice, but that is just me.

I spoke to someone from HR and explained my situation but i guess big companies don't care. I've been at my current job since 1993. I spoke to my boss yesterday and explained everything to him and he was a bit shocked but he took it pretty well. I told him i can still work for him part time to help him out. I told him that i don't want to "cut ties" with him or his shop.

    Yup.

I am glad you talked to your boss, keep that relationship man. Looks like you have it all worked out.

The bigger the employer, the less they give a shit about loyalty. Sad but true.

There is a fine line here. I worked for a corporation with over 500 staffed and I worked under the owner of a place with 100. They all have their pros/cons.

There truly is no such thing as loyalty from most companies in the end it all about the bottom line . So you have to think like a company and do what's best for it(you).I have worked for a company that is world wide and a small family run co.

Joe you interested in that 4runner? It's 20 years old so once it's up & running it can be tagged historic.

Yup. If you cost them money, you're gone, if you are valuable and get them money, they usually still don't care and you are gone haha.

Make a offer. I suggest to come and look at it first. But i'll tell you the frame & undercarriage is solid. No rust, dents or dings on the body. Clean interior. Paint on hood & roof is faded. Greengen saw it in person so he can confirm the condition of the interior, paint & body, he didn't see the undercarriage.

    Sold :)

Going to try to get it this week.

Don't worry, it'll get bumpers, skids and sliders. Need to replace the motor first though haha.

It looks like Joe has a Toyota project. I'm glad to see it go to a TW member. I'm even throwing in a 3.4L that i bought off of CL 2 years ago, i was told it ran. But i made sure i made it clear to Joe that i never heard this engine run & the seller of this engine seemed a little shady. I don't wanna mislead anybody. But the price was right and i mainly needed it for the cylinder heads so i bought it but never used it. Nice talking to ya Joe.

Hey I just realized i didn't make any $$$ off this deal! That's unlike me. Considering what i paid for the truck & the engine i'm breaking even. But i owe Joe anyway for the deal on the softopper he hooked me up with and i'm glad that the runner is in good hands with a fellow TW member.
