I need one that can't stand me! You know, one that says why don't you go fishing today, or why don't you go hunting today to get me out of her hair. That way we would both be happy!o_O

Ask her to send picture of her chainsaw and boat. :)
If there's one rock on the whole mountain, I'll find it with my chainsaw.
Not worried about getting my fuelwood permit yet, getting the garden ready to start planting early stuff and start tomatoes and peppers inside. I can start scouting for firewood soon. Still have to get at least one more snow camping/snowshoe trip in.

Officially entering this thread...nice to hear from those who share the 60+ perspective.

I've had 6 Toyota trucks over the years, 4 of which were Tacomas. Two best - 2002 TRD 4x4 AC, current 2013 TRD 4x4 AC. On a whim, I did put 5100s & new leaf springs on the '02, it was great, no issues with that setup.

I've had my 2013 since I bought it new in May 2013, and love it. Lately, I've been contemplating leveling it with 5100s @ .85 in the front, just shocks (no lift) in the back. I've been so happy with the way the truck rides and handles, I wonder why I want to change it, but I do...still researching, getting up the nerve to go forward. One question - why does a .85 lift in the front net more lift than .85"?

 Welcome to the sixtys thread Gary! Plenty of room, pull up a rocker. Cooler's over there, never hurts to contribute a few of your favorite beverages to it.

I have a 2012 and have been thinking about 5100s too, plus something to improve load handling. I know the stock rear springs are widely disliked but I think I may just do air bags. I don't need more height, don't care about the 'bro lean', I just want less jounce when I'm on the road and better control when I have it stacked full of firewood. If I do shocks I may take the opportunity to correct the lean just because I have it apart.

Welcome Gary, pull up a chair on the porch.

Just got lucky, I mean real lucky!
Was cutting the branches off the tree and it shifted, it fell from where it was hung up and when it hit the ground it wacked me with one of the main branches that knocked me to the ground and knocked the saw out of my hand. One side of my leg is sore from getting hit, and the other side is sore from landing on the wood I had already cut off. I didn't expect that to happen because I wasn't cutting anything that I thought was holding it up, well at least it's on the ground now!
A little bruised and battered, a small wound on my hand, but all is well: could have been a lot worse.
Better get it cut up today, because tomorrow I may really feel it!
You guys and Sue aren't getting rid of me that easy!

That sounds like a good plan, the air bags that is...I don't have any issues with the rear springs, even though they are the 2+1 OR version. I too, would like a bit of help with load handling if needed. I think my course of action will be to put on the 5100s all the way around, with the front at .85, and go from there depending on how it ends up after settling.

Thanks all for the welcome. Back when I joined TW, I was early on in the 50+ group...

What are 5100's? Shock series, model? My old Chevy LUV 4X4, I had a helper spring and coil over rear shocks to handle my over sized loads of firewood. Fully loaded, the home made flatbed would be a couple inches above the tires when loaded. :)

Bilstein 5100 shock absorbers. Widely regarded among Tacoma folk as the go-to piece for folks wanting to upgrade their shocks.

Carl, glad to hear you're okay! Well, sorta okay. But like you said it could have been a lot worse.

Suppose to snow some more today. This one took the wind out of my sails. I'm back in winter funk.
Not a happy camper. My intentions were to fish last weekend and they had a fishing tournament. All the boats showed up with snow on them. Well, you can have it. Suppose to be crappy all week. Just won't quit. :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed::annoyed: :frusty::frusty::frusty: :brianr::brianr:
