I would've already sent him money for it, but my alternator is progressively getting worse, today it wouldn't charge more than 13.4 volts. So I'm gonna have to think about that soon.

Keep us posted. I have a buddy in SC who uses that tent without complaint in the weather he has there, which has got to be pretty similar to yours.

I will! And yea, pretty much same weather.

Side note: does anyone know of any must see camping spots in Arkansas. I'm thinking about making a trip out there this summer.

I want to backpack the Eagle Rock Loop, but anywhere in the Ouachita is great.

    Would love to explore Arkansas.

After driving through what, for me, is the absolute ugliest parts of the US and then working my way through Texas, hitting Arkansas was like having sex for the first time.

    So. Beautiful.

Then we hit Tennessee and good god, even better.

For a guy who lives for greenery and overgrown vegetation, it's like hell.

Although NM holds a good place in my heart for providing the finest chile eating experience of my life.

Having lived in a dozen states, Midwest to southeast. Recently landed in Central California. O. M. G. I love it! (I hate all the nanny-state laws and the gas prices!) but it's incredible here!

Low humidity. Low bugs. No palmetto bugs!! No neighbors. Four seasons.

We're both open to new adventures. But for now, this will do!

Did the REI deal and got Tepui RTT. I looked at ground tents too. Not sure what is the right choice for the AK trip with a 12 year old boy. RTT or ground tent. Not even sure if he likes camping lol. Is the mattress in the RTT comfortable to sleep in? What would you fine folks recommend?

I have a CVT RTT, the mattress is comfortable it sleep on. If I was going to AK, I would take the RTT. It gets you off the ground and gives you a little distance between you and a predator. If it rains you'll be off the ground and dry.

Yep I'd take the RTT on AK every day of the week and twice on Sunday. No Polar bears for me.

Pretty sure a polar bear is still going to be able to get into a RTT, but I'd take a RTT over a ground tent on a long roadtrip.

If he wanted to he could get in to anything. But if I put all my food in the truck and fold up my ladder he'll look else where

Yea, but if you put all your food in your truck and you're in a tent 5 feet from your truck are you more of a target? Polar bears are 10ft tall when they're on 2 legs, it's not like you're out of reach in a RTT.
